Okay (88); hinge bracket it is, the other is wing bracket.

All; I agree, does look tidier.

Are you (Mr G) having problems with "bonnet bulge" as others have reported?

  • Turn it in peeps, Keechy is doing all of us a service. Leave the bloke alone, he don't need, or deserve nag pie!

  • The longest group buy in Briskoda history...... ......probably :(

  • Well, I've found him on facebook and sent a message.  We shall see what comes of it.  Not that me, or the forum, can really get involved as such.  I just like to see things resolved.

Yes, it's not visible, but definitely higher when you run your finger along the shut line.

Its bang on at the front and rear edges, just higher in the central 30cms or so.

Could this be due to the reversed "hinge bracket" ball fitting? I don't see it myself but have you tried it as shown in the vid?

I guess it's possible, can't see any signs of anything touching or rubbing, but I may try swapping the ball joint over at the weekend to rule it out.

Keechy, still no sign mate....

Hi Keechy , Mine hasn't arrived yet, Bob.

Hi Keechy.  Have those parts missing from the order turned up yet?

Cheers

Rick

Could it be possible that the bonnet is bent due to the closing action against the pressure of the ram?

Not if what Mike said in post #481 is correct.

The position would suggest it's the bracket on the wing causing the issue, but could equally be the large 'bonnet bracket'

Its pre shaped, if that was tight to the bonnet near the original strut eye, the action of tighteng the bonnet hinge bolts back up could push it into the bonnet further, raising central edge up?

ls yours a nearside lifter then, the reason l ask is that you talk of the original strut eye.

Is this the part that held the pivot point of the original strut?

Just to note: Keetchy hasn't been online in about two weeks, he may well be on holiday or somthing.

Having a well deserved rest I hope.

I am convinced the problem lies in the fixing of the ram on the front wing being too high when bolted to the existing wing mounting bolt. Somehow the mounting for the gas ram at the wing needs to be a couple of millimeters lower than the bracket allows.

Have you tried reversing the wing bracket so as the shorter side is vertical?

The bracket supplied in my kit was exactly the same on each side, to the millimeter.

Mike

Well here we go then, assuming the width is the same (19mm), I have one side 20mm, the other measures 17mm.

My wing bracket it definitely longer one side than the other too.

At present the longer side is vertical as that's how it's shown in the 'how to' video however, turning it round would lower the ram by a few millimetres, which may make all the difference.

Is yours an offside kit? If so, I can't understand why the nearside kit has a different wing bracket!

No mine's a nearside kit.

Well, that's put the cat amongst the pigeons!

Mike (nearside bracket) is equal on all sides.

I'm also going to sell mine. I don't like the way it makes the bonnet sit. So will put in the for sale section later

Me too. Thinking it will be lost for good by now but he said they were insured.

I've finally got around to swapping the bracket round, one side was 17mm, the other 20mm.

The bonnet paint had a chip on it in the position the bracket would touch.

Swapping has made it better to the point that it's negligible, although it is still just there but now over about 6 inches rather than the 12 or so it was previously.

That's how I put mine on in the first place, no problems whatsoever.

How many people haven't received there's? Cause I think it's daft that we paid for these nearly three months ago, and people have had time to fit, modify and sell them on. With no response to anyone's queries about where they are???
