Default traffic information setting

Featured Replies

When you program a route in the satnav on the Amundsen and "start" then select traffic info, it comes up with all the traffic info which is stupid, it would be better if it just showed info relevant for the route as the default. To select this you need two button selections on the touch screen and since by now you're driving this is not good! Is there a way to change the default to "route" that anyone knows please?

Even I was keen to know that. I'll be good to know how we can do this. Lets see who can help us on this.

Its just like the default postcode starting with numbers, "it like that and thats the way it is"

The system needs to know all the traffic info so it can reroute you with the dynamic routing option. The data is received by TMC messages on FM radio from either Heart or Capital FM, as the system is very dated it is not possible to alter the behaviour of the unit. The newer system uses DAB for the traffic info, but this is not widely (if at all used) in the UK yet.

I thought it was distributed nationally by Classic FM?

Classic FM and various other commercial stations.

It's a shame Skoda don't do the online RTT yet. My Audi and BMW had it and it's 10 times more accurate than TMC and gets updated much faster.

You would need a GSM module with Internet access though (BMW had it built in with free usage for 3 years, Audi you put your own SIM in the dash).

Yes - Classic FM

Not just Classic FM, other commercial stations carry the RDS-TMC signals as well. There are in fact (or used to be) 2 different RDS-TMC offerings in the UK, I did a lot of beta testing for TomTom on RDS-TMC in the Uk about 5-6 years ago or so, when the TT implementation was shocking and you had wires strewn across your windscreen. Their LIVE traffic service was still in development at that point.

Ok, sounds like it can't be changed. Thanks for the input.
