Booked in for repairs again !

Featured Replies

I've had to phone my local dealer again to get the car in to address more issues. Over the past week or so my bolero has been skipping stations and cd tracks all by itself first thing after a cold start. Now today it did the same thing and the touchscreen became unresponsive. The buttons and dials worked but not the screen. Now after leaving the car a while its working again. It's driving me mad. Also the heavy knocking noise on idle after a cold start seems to be getting worse. When I took the car in before I was asked to get more miles on the car to see if the noise stops. My concern is that I'll keep getting fobbed off until my warranty term ends in 2 years. It's so annoying. Only the past few years I've been buying nearly new cars thinking they would be more reliable but I find they're less reliable than my previous £1500 cars.

I'm getting a bit concerned about mine, only very minor things but already it's getting a bit rattly (not terrible but again not great for an 8 month old car), it occasionally struggles to start, has a fairly noisy fuel pump and the load cover has started going limp on one side and will probably fail in due course. The interior is also showing signs of wear and I wouldn't classify it as having had a hard life at all.

My Mk2 just seemed more robust somehow, it was a very late Blackline, regret selling it a bit now as despite being a bit slower it was more fun to drive overall, had a much better sound system (resigned to the fact now that the Mk3 system is garbage, loads of volume suppresion and neary always too quiet for my liking) and was overall nigh on perfect for the year I had it.

That said I am probably going to have to sell it fairly soon to make way for a company car as I'm beginning to do a lot more miles, might actually end up being for the best :-)

....One other thing I would chip in on....its one of the issues of being an early adopter of a new model too.

I had an early Mk6 Golf GT TDI a few years back and had some initially terrible quality problems with it, ultimately gave me 3 years good service in the end (AC did fail mid summer though just before it turned 3!) but had to give it back to the lease company early (as the idiot's sold it to auction before my lease was up!) Got replaced with the same car one year newer that had a harder life than mine and it was like chalk and cheese; everything about it was just that bit better.

Definitely towards the end of production is the real sweet spot, I guess that's why my Blackline was so good.

my bolero as frozen a couple of times and changed stations by itself also only on a morning cold start?.....

be going in for its first service soon so will mention it then........

my bolereo has a recurring fault, when the cd is playing and the track selector is selected, the screen goes blank and will remain that way until the car has been turned off and left a few mins,

I noticed when I bought my car early this year that from a cold start on colder, damp mornings the bolero started misbehaving. I took it to the dealer I got the car from and their excuse was that the auto search was on so they turned it off. That never cured it of course. Over the summer I didn't notice it play up but now it's getting cooler and damp in the mornings its going crazy. I'm sure it's something to do with moisture affecting the touchscreen.

I don't think it is moisture, it is the cold that the capacitive touch screens don't like. They soon warm up, but my Columbus is the same.

I find keeping the screen perfectly clean (with glass cleaner) helps - it is almost as if any marks or fingerprints on the screen get detected when it is really cold as if they were a 'touch'.

I have noticed my infotainment system has an intermittent issue with changing options selected.

Leave the music set to SD card and get in the car and CD is selected or aux in, the same with the car screen all of a sudden it will show car status instead of MPG etc.

I've had a call from the dealer today saying they've replaced the touchscreen so hopefully the issue will be solved. As for the bad diesel type knocking on cold idle, they can't solve it and have advised me again to get more miles on the clock.
