Briskoda.net did the Nurburgring

Featured Replies

Thought I would start a thread for pics and chitchat to be posted from last weekends ring trip.

My pics will be online tomorrow once I have had a chance to look through them, so for starters I'll post these few that I have found hosted elsewhere

I'll also be hosting those taken by Carsten, and if shifty will let me a full lap video from his car.

Hmm - fogs on... think of all the bhp being wasted!

And think how much more will be wasted if he ever does the "twin fog" conversion!

Hope it was a good weekend.

Shifty - what alloys have you got on it?

they look like octavia elegance wheels, sorry leon idea stolen :(

Hi Tom, great weekend thanks. Alloys are 16" Audi TT wheels, bought last minute to put Kumho Tarmac Rally tyres on. I think it looks well, so going to have them repainted and keep them on the car.

Shifty, My mum's got a couple of photos of your car at the ring that she'll put up here tomorrow... And a couple of PJ's.

Thanks for hosting my pics manny

As I forgot the CD at home I won

good pictures guys,

Manny, how did you find it in the Boxster then?

did you take Carsten for a Pax lap???

out of interest what was the cost and traveling time for this??

Alex, in the end because of bad weather I only did 3 laps, just as my confidence in the car grew, the heavens opened and it never stopped as you will see when I post the pics tonight. I was really impressed with how chuckable the car was, very simillar to the octy but with better power delivery. I just need to get used to the way a RWD car handles. So I didnt really get a chance to take Carsten round.

Costs involved-

Ferry crossings - Shop around but from as little as

So expect to see you at Angelsey then Shifty :D

Out of interest what di you think of the Kumhos, where di dyou get them and what did you pay.

I'm considering some of these instead of the pirrelli ones.

Also which compund.

No further questions you honour.

How about what are they like in the wet?

@ Faboka - I will be at Anglesey mate, you can count on it.

As for my Kumho's in the wet..... No NO NO NO. Dry or slightly damp surfaces only.

@Spinndrift - Tyres are K9A'a for the front (hard) and K6A's (medium-soft) for the back. Ideal for the ring, as you can make a few mistakes and the tyres absorb them, ie if you hesitate on a badly cambered hairpin, the tyres save your life. At Anglesey I will run the K6's at the front and the K9's at the back so I can have some lift off oversteer fun :D

I thought they were fantastic to answer your actual question though. I have done 1800 miles on them, including 400 miles of the ring, and they are still good for the same again looking at them. In the damp, they retain their heat and grip, but in the wet they go cold and lose all of the grip. Also they dont shift standing water, they want to go over the water. I paid
