Personally I would go light on the front with medium dark on the rear. Looks good as I'm not a fan of limo black

Sent from my Galaxy S5

~30% VLT in grey non-reflective

None hate the stuff first thing i took off mine.

Lmao after almost after 5 months I'm going to get the car tinted tommorow

But I'm thinking for full limo black rear as I like the privacy when it's needed sometimes ;) ;)

And light smoke on front not decided yet might have medium on rears

Merely for information purposes, any additional tint on the front side windows is illegal. The standard glass transmits about 72%, the minimum being 70%.

OT but I like your Merc

I was never sure about tinting until I got it on the estate. Good for the little 'un an also make it hard for the scrotes to see inside

I've had a few cars done now and usually go darker on the rear glass and lighter on the rear doors

This.

Most factory glass only lets in just above the minimum amount of light already, so any extra on the front will almost definitely be illegal.

I'll bare that in mind ;)

But let's just say there's a lot of things that are against The law

So you basically don't give a toss?

That's all well and good.... And you could get away with it for years..... Or be unlucky and meet a zealous, bad day, quota needing Bobby......or very unlucky and have an injury RTC... Then the Law AND Insurance would hammer you.

Front TINTS are not just unlawfull.. They can be dangerous.... Is it worth it?

I declared window tints on my insurance from day one and said the front was tinted knowing I was going to tint them they didn't say anything then and I'm not going limo on the front just a light tint like my previous car,

Insurers aren't there to keep you legal, they'll just take your money

Anyway, your choice, your risk

A lot has been said that the police waste their time targeting the motorist -- with that attitude it is little wonder.

If tinting windows was that dangerous and against the law to that level they should make it a M.O.T failure

Same people say hid kits are against the law but people are still using them including you mike

Do you have auto leveling or headlight washers on your 2005 Octy ?

Is you gas filled xenon bulb E marked which is a legal requirement ment for a motor vehicle ?

And what happens if one day your 'illegal' xenon lights do not level because they are retro fitted and dazzle a driver causing them to crash, may not ever happen but it could

Either way both things are illegal wether they improve or not it's not a case of pick and choose

As said, this is off topic, we are not discussing the pros and cons, and legality of HID kits

Yes you are correct and I understand the facts that have been stated above.

But I'm just replying to the post u mentioned about police and motorist when technically your shoes are not the cleanest either

The HID bulb is literally that, a bulb, it therefore has nothing whatsoever to do with the levelling mechanism of the headlight, which is generally done via the thumbwheel next to the dash dimmer wheel

The possibility of the levelling not working is, therefore, not an issue

With Mike's vehicle being Elegance spec, I'm guessing it probably has standard washer jets anyway

When properly aligned they are no greater risk to oncoming drivers than a car fitted with highly uprated filament bulbs such as Nightbreakers etc etc

Next!

:)

But it is a legal requirement for xenon bulbs to be auto leveling, regardless if they are allinged properly, also the bulb has to be E marked but it cannot be because they are illegal hid bulbs

I couldn't care less because I have the exact same kit inside my car from London colours I just backed up my point that there are alot of illegal things that happen in the world

Not all factory xenons auto level or have washers .

Stepping off the fence here.

Both items are "technically" illegal irrespective of what the possible consequences RTC or blinding people.

People in glass houses, should not throw stones ;)

Now keep it real and get back on topic.

It does not matter if you have declared the tints to your insurance, if the tint is too dark "illegal" on the front side windows your insurance will void or may void a claim.

You can tint the front side but only to a legal level, what you do at the back is up to you :)

I have only the rear tinted which were put on by the dealer just before I bought it and it is very dark.

In the summer it cuts down the heat and also all year round keeps nosey beaks out.

All I can say is I'm glad I have parking sensors, at night you are virtually blind it is that dark. Have to rely on side mirrors.

Only good thing is people running illegal headlights dont blind you from behind.
