Snooper Laser and Radar Detection?

Featured Replies

Use your eyes. You might even spot errant children, dogs or cyclists, too.

Surely they are pointless - by the time the device has picked up a speed camera or radar gun, the signal from said camera or radar gun has already gone back and registered that you are speeding?

Yes

I had one....I cant comment on the pointlessness.

They work very well...but can be slightly annoying at times when they pick up scatter from Traffic lights etc...

Haha Huskoda, good point! However what is wrong with a little extra ' aid ' not an instead of.

They are meant to pick up ' radar scatter ' from up to a mile away.

Chris - did you ever come across radar guns? How quick was it pick it up?

Many thanks so far!

CamerAlert app for iphone or android.  Its free, it works, has mobile camera sites on as well as fixed.

Or you can download their POI database to your satnav - as long as its not RNS315

I didnt..But my mate did in Scotland (Glencoe)

Was able to slow enough..Its bloody loud!!

Expensive for what they are; but saved me twice in 10months ownership. Lots of false alerts but is rather that than none at all.

So I consider it worthwhile having in the car.

Was that twice via a fixed camera? Or via a radar gun/speed camera van?

One of each.

Also picks up the new gantry speed cameras along the M62 - so i knew when they had been enabled

Brilliant thank you very much :)

I shall order one now.

£130 for the device instead of a possible 3 points sounds good to me. My insurance is already a nightmare on a modded Vrs for a 21 year old without points added.

I've got a Snooper 3Zero but haven't fitted in my current car. As said the false alrms are annoying but when it does pick up a lazer you know about it! As said it picks up lazer scatter, so when the man in the van is pointing it at the cars in front it should pick it up.

I had a bit of bother with Snooper, I used to pay for the subscription but stopped because of bad customer services from them.

MUCH cheaper to keep to the speed limit :p

Isnt it still illegal to use them (but strangely, not to buy, sell or own them).

I didnt think it was...So, No

Think that used to be the case many years ago but not now

I want a radar blocker :) not a detector !

I used road angel very good goes ballistic flashing red and loud beeping closer you get picks them up easily. I believe they have to have a reading from a quarter mile to do you.

You should have slowed by then when using these devises. Also its a true speedo reading as done by satellite.

.

I think some of the laser devices can used up tp 1000m.

Camera vans can start to get you at over a mile away, so pretty pointless.

Everyone has their own opinions on these

Even some that haven't tried them

But they do work and they they give you the location of all cameras and mobile sites...so whether you like them or loath them, they are effective and give peace of mind

Rather than a snooper to alert the presence of a speed camera, I read somewhere years ago that you can buy a device that fits in the grill of your car that is used to activate an automated opening garage door.

The device scrambles the laser from the speed camera somehow and so prevents a true reading on the speed camera.

I did have a road angel many years ago and it was a waste of money imo.

I've heard this too but never tried it. I presume once police new about it they'd have worked around it. I've got Nokia Drive on my phone which bongs if I go over the speed limit and I've found it to be brilliant.

Fifth Gear ran a test about this a few years back.

Doing this is illegal
