Tran X Gear Box 5 Speed

Featured Replies

I am selling a fully refurbished Tran X gearbox from a Ford Escort MK 2, the box has had extensive work carried out and was due to go back into the car, however a Quaife sequential has taken its place hence it is now for sale.

The gearbox can be bought for £1,000 ono and collected from Cheshire.

It belongs to my mate, I go rallying with and do a bit of servicing etc, it is currently running a Vauxhall red top and Quaife sequential box with excellent results.

I saw this box let go at a rally at York Raceway, it had 1, 2 and 5, 3&4 had gone, the box came out the next day and was rebuilt.

Here is the car the box is from

I have a Tran-X Type 9 in my Caterham. Fantastic straight-cut noise, if you like that sort of thing.

What are the ratios and is it a short or long input shaft? If I come across anyone wanting a replacement Type 9, I can point them this way.

I am not sure mate, the gearbox is specced for  stage rallies, so i imagine the ratios are close with fairly low top gear, as for the input shaft i will measure it tomorrow and post up my findings.

Input shaft is approx 7" long as you can see from the picture.

Ratios, we have no idea as it was in the car when he bought it.
