Car doors were frozen shut this morning!

Featured Replies

Yep winter has definately arrived round here ...

Rained last night and froze over night resulting in the doors on my car being frozen shut!

vaseline on the seals....

Silicone wipe is less messy

i dont have silicone wipes...

Gummi Pflege is best

Yes..thats good too..I have some Gummi Pglege, for use on clients' cars

Silicone spray (I bought at Halfords) onto a cloth and wipe on the rubber door seals works for me

Had a cup of coffee this morning as I sat and watched the wife de-ice her car. I wont get away with that very often; it's usually me that is expected to de-ice both cars.

Newspapers in the door frames to prevent 2moro?

Usually i find if one door frozen then other door is easier to get in ...

Warm/tepid water (NEVER HOT!!) if its very frozen ...will free it in seconds

I defrost my screen very effectively with this method

Don't put vaseline or any other petroleum product on natural rubber seals. It can make them go brittle and crack.

Better to stick with a silicon grease if you've got problems with your rubbers :peek:

Wasn't frozen here, but extremely humid.

Very keen frost in york early hours when i left work, had to thaw the car out winter wheels fitted this morning.

I use Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber sprayed onto a microfibre cloth on the door rubbers

I also give the locks and handles a quick squirt with WD40 just before the weekly wash. Not had any issues so far and it's been just above freezing for the last fortnight where I live.

I was just scrolling down to recommend AG Vinyl and Rubber seal. I do my door seals around 3 times a year and never had a problem with doors sticking . The Fabia is very prone to jammed doors due to frost if the seals are left untreated.

Cars freezing over?

Am I living in a different country to everyone else?

First 'bong ' of the winter so far on the way to work tonight but haven't scraped for months

Wet on the inside of the windscreen tho, driving me crackers

My Clio seat was frozen this morning

Fairly hard ice on mine this morning. The heated screen, mirrors and seats all worked perfectly, but now I want heated side windows too. The spare wheel was squeaking quite badly in the boot though, so that needs sorting.

Frozen the same down here on the south coast too.  Caught me out.

I miss my old car, it had Clifford intellistart 4  :D, nice warm car whilst watching the tv

Frozen solid here in Sheffield as well. Where I park is quite exposed and there was a thick solid ice the screen this morning that just laughed at the deicer. Had to chip it off in tiny chuncks with a scraper

hop in, start up, heater to full windscreen and rear heater on. Warm water around 50c and drizzle across the screen. Do both cars, then head to work... Sorted.
