trouble is, if you don't publish I ring time these days, the general public's assumption will be that it's slow :-/ even though it's pretty much irrelevant to the vast majority of us

  • He's trying to keep us off the Golf R thread...

  • Bumps the thread up though.

Test drive yet to be organized.

However ,will be soon. Had much fun in the last short lived model, this reads even more so.

"Thank you for getting in to contact with me in regards to your Type R test drive, We have just received our Type R GT into the dealership, however it is not yet road ready.

I would love to invite you in to have a look at the vehicle up close before you go away, so that we are then able to discuss your prospects and move forward with booking your test drive.

It is currently sat within our showroom which will allow for a really good walkthrough on the car with yourself. Please make me aware as to when you will be available to pop in.

So the test drive is on it's way??!! Looking forward to that now."

My local dealer in Chippenham -Blades

I never thought I'd say this, but I've gone off the look of the 2018 model.

Maybe it's because I'm over 30 now :sleepy:

Stever 750,

Had my test drive just over a week ago now in the same colour and GT spec as the car reviewed by Petrol Ped above.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Type R FK8 experience, great to drive , super manual box and in the dry handled really well around my Wiltshire country lanes, that I frequent regularly with my Golf R & the Boxster.

My only misgiving is getting out of the car and the visual appearance for this "old frat". Great fun but not my every dayer.

Fantastically engineered , qualitycar but not aesthetically pleasing for me.

Owners reporting problems with notchy gearboxes.

Will be interesting to see how, Honda CS / Engineering deal with these early issues.

I gave up at 300 miles, nowhere near enough mileage to form a clear rationalised assessment. Oh, and he's a total kn*b

I bet my cupra 320 was faster in a straight line and round the twisty bits, without the irritaring middle class kid chatter going on. I hope no one pays these pair of numpties...

Pistonheads comparison on the road Civic Type R fk8 v Focus RSmk30Mountune 375.

I know nowt about Civic Type R's but had a look @ howmanyleft.

I take it that the Civic GT Type R Vtec Turbo are not flying out of the showroom and still quite rare on UK roads.

Emphasis seemed to be placed on US market first, only really entered UK showroom / demonstrators in mid Sept / Early Oct. Ironically after I had my test drive, today I saw my first locally owned Type R. FK8 ,he being in his mid to late 30s . In Red and looking smart, living in Royal Wotton Bassett ,3miles from the Honda Assembly line. Good to see local loyalty. I'm sure I will soon be seeing more  around .
