  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

  • Really?   Probably one of the first races this season that I've fully watched and if I'm totally honest I was bored out of my tree - processional at the best. Plus the pinnacle of motor racing and t

Double points scrapped. And it's D Day for JB today. Let's hope he's got a seat.

Even if he hasn't, multi-millionaire, world champ, hot model fiancee - I bet he wonders where it all went wrong?

Oh and to cap it all - he owns a Veyron

Which brand? It doesn't really make sense for Audi & Porsche to fight in WEC so one of those 2 must be favourite.

It would be good if it was Lamborghini or Bugatti!

Skoda F1 doesn't quite have the ring of future champions  :bandit:

Can't really see them dropping any of DTM, WEC, Junior WRC et al to fund F1.

Toyota dropped most of their motorsport involvement but then failed in F1.

If Audi move on, they (VAG) are still in WEC with Porsche.

Toyota were kicked out of WRC, but then went in to F1 & NASCAR

And Lamborghini too. In some Endurance series.

Lamborghini were around in F1 a while ago IIRC.

Same with Porsche... McLaren TAG.

Would be good to see another manufacturer coming in... but with the money the way it is, I don't see it.

RB factory was ram raided last night, 64 trophies stolen  :o sad times

Almost all are replicas I read, with a scrap value of less the a hundred quid.

Surely you'd keep them somewhere more secure?

McLaren do the same... they're on show in the "reception" of the MTC along with lots of the past racing cars.

It's a shame... obviously people thought they could melt them down and sell them for scrap value.... bit of a failure of thought there.

Yeah majority are replicas so worth bugger all. Sadly they will be kept somewhere else now by the sounds of it, they were on full view along with a car in the window to gander at

I wonder if it's linked to the raid at the national motorcycle museum?

Sadly almost all of those were the real thing and irreplaceable

I read someone else thinking that too. Who knows, I can imagine someone would go the that effort fro scrap metal surely?

Again I'd have expected thick bullet proof cabinets and security cages when it's closed to prevent such smash and grabs. Especially when you have high value or irreplaceable trophies

Yeah yeah yeah - How many GPs actually give out "real trophies" (or replicas; see the Jim Clark Trophy Room in Duns for the sort of stuff I mean) rather than a 3-D casting of a corporate logo these days? The originals were probably brushed stainless steel or aluminium castings rather than silver or gold cups or plates.

Agree, Lewis looked particularly miffed with the Santander logo that fell apart at Silverstone! -  ISTR he got the BRDC to bring the proper British GP Trophy out for the photos?

and here it is :)

That is exactly what I mean, right down to the replicas of the George VI Trophy in Duns! And how any value the corporate logos have is in provinance rather than precious metals.

They showed some archive footage of redbulls display cabinet which must be some 5m+ tall, and they took everything. Must have brought their own cherry picker

Got a link? Pictures I saw they only cleared the bottom 1/2 of it.

It should be on http://itv.com/anglia

They didn't show the damaged cabinet, but said they took all 60 trophies

  • Author

I think there was over 100 trophies in the cabinet

They had some antiquities officer from Scotland Yard on.

Big black market in racing stuff, so likely in some billionaires private collection in the middle east, China or Russia

Just found out that McLaren are holding a media event tomorrow.

Announcement time here we come......................
