  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

  • Really?   Probably one of the first races this season that I've fully watched and if I'm totally honest I was bored out of my tree - processional at the best. Plus the pinnacle of motor racing and t

Yes it's good that the honda is finding some reliability.  Soon they'll turn the motor up and close the current 14 second gap to the front.

Sauber are looking fast - running light to attract more sponsors?

The times Alonso set yesterday were competitive with the times also set around the same time (early in the day when it was wet) from what saw, was that not the case?

Alonso was allegedly keeping pace with Rosberg?

The Sauber set those times on a softer tire. However i do hope they keep their bright colour scheme. It's nice to see something a bit different.

Yeah, thats what I read. Times mean very little at this stage but I noticed they're are a few 'Honda haters' waiting to jump on everything they have an issue with, although I guess this is the same with every sport.

They're not a million miles away from where most of the teams were last year with the new motors, they've already come out saying they have gone for new tech, which while may take some time to get working reliably but when they do should be quick in an attempt to make up some of the gap to the mercs.

Sauber and Ferrari do seem to be going well, people seem to be commenting on the slimline rear of them, much tighter package. Cant wait till the first race!

button has been fastest in the mac, 7 seconds off the pace. alonso's best about 14 seconds off.

i don't think either of them could keep up with rosberg (yet)

if anyone thinks mac are competitive based on what theyve shown so far, you're dreaming.

however, only 4 seconds off the next slowest after only 4 test days is real progress.

can't wait to see them at the next test.

So Alonsos quickest lap on Monday wasn't set in the wet in the morning?

Again?

On the plus side, perhaps he'll stop thinking that he's a gangsta now?

Er, no, he won't!

Link didn't work.

Nicole and Lewis have split too.

Ah cheers!

Er, no, he won't!

If I had his skills and money I'd be pretending I was a gangsta too. :D

Perhaps that's why she dumped him. She doesn't seem the gangsta loving type.

Apparently it's cos he won't marry her, maybe it's the opposite and she does love the gangsta :D

Just been reading various reports from the test, some many theories and stories I don't think we will know what's what till Melbourne.

The only conclusions so far seem to be everyone's improved. :D So excited!

So it'll be the same as last year!

I was looking at day 3 when they finally got it running for more than one or two laps, Alonso done a 1:35 something in the wet early on, within a second of Rosberg and the tests times that morning in the damp.

You seem to be comparing times from days they were running install laps and sounding like a bag of nails with reduced power :D

The times largely mean nothing but people thinking the McHonda is 15 seconds down? I don't think so.

Testing tells us, the public, nothing and trying to compare laps times and make calls as to whether a team is competitive is pointless.

As we know teams have their own individual strategies in testing. We will only know whether McLaren are on pace in approx 35 days.

I totally agree, they'll be nothing until the first qualifying to tell us who's where, fuel loads, engine modes, tyres, types of runs all effect times, but at the same time, I really doubt McLaren are massively off the pace but we'll find out in March.

I only look at the amount of running teams did as the best indicator for the chances in the racing season. Macca barely warmed their engines up while Merc done thousands of miles...

The more running the more things/modes etc tested and the more data to work with. The amount of varied data to work with is the key here.

Yeah, the milages Nico and Lewis clocked up suggest that they both spent 2 days doing race run simulations and Macca were doing installations or qualifying sims.

I think it is simply unrealistic to expect from any F1 team to be competitive with a brand new power plant which never been run in a car before. Testing rigs are extremely sophisticated these days but unfortunately nowhere near i nterms of the amount and quality of data gathered during track testing.

The below is from here:

As Ken wrote above Merc have done at least one if not two full race sims. And even if they were sandbagging to hide their true lap pace it does not matter. The amount of data they have now is vast and priceless.
