2015 F1 General Discussion Thread

Force India colours get blander by the year - do they expect to get more TV coverage if mistaken for another team?

Oh BTW Haas F1 have bought the Marussia factory - but not the existing team or equipment.

FI is very much like the McLaren liveries of old.

Not heard anything myself about Haas but does that suggest a 2016 entry.

  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

  • Really?   Probably one of the first races this season that I've fully watched and if I'm totally honest I was bored out of my tree - processional at the best. Plus the pinnacle of motor racing and t

The 2015 Lotus E23, now with 50% less nose:

That nose is going to scoop up the competition

Ferrari have revealed the new car's name - the  SFI5-T which is slightly better than their recently announced megacar the FXX-K.

given the hybrid nature and Multiple powerplants or Engines at least it isn't the FXX-K ME!!

Which strangely was the nearest possible English translation of "Countach", a lambo not named after a bull or bullfighting weapon but rather a Piedmontese oath!

enough 4AM rambling I think...

2015 McLaren

McLaren disappointing. I thought they would at least change the livery for the new era even if they didn't go back to red and white.

I can't post the link to the video at present (work network blocking Youtube!) but it starts off with the tracking shots of the MP4/6 in it's infamous red and white Honda livery. Think a few people will be disappointed that the new livery doesn't take more reference from the retro theme.

It's not about the paint job though, more about the performance.

Cnn eh, that will get blurred I reckon on sky ;)

Yeah they could of gone red n white... so that's three who are silver tops, FIndia, Merc and Macl. Should be fun on aerial shots. Maybe if they all look similar in a glimpse, they might get let past :)

mcL and FI are twins. only separated by about 2 shades of red on the colour chart. Very disappointing - both schemes really dull.

at least FI appear to have sponsors though - when are mcL going to get one?

Yeah it's the Bank of Brazil colours. I like it when there's a big change in colours, aside from Sauber they're all a bit same old. Was hoping for more from Macca what with the new engines etc. Hopefully it goes better than it looks.

Yep, and here's their new pit crew:

Looks like Sauber have resurrected the Camel Tyrrell colours (Alesi era) or used leftover Renault F1 paint, at least it looks diferrent from Mcl/ FI this year.

Ferrari looks like very conservative Merc copy - not a likely winner.

Toro Rosso looks the same as Ferrari, no obvious innovation, very "safe" looking design.

Looking at all the pictures the cars look very much like they did in 2014 apart from the noses, big improvement there.

Let's see how they perform during the first test of the year.

Ferrari fastest on day one Vettel ahead of Rosberg.

Does it mean anything?

Well, Looking back 12 months:

Ferrari fastest on day one Raikkonen ahead of Hamilton...

and we all saw how that turned out.

Note: Rosberg managed 157 laps! more than double anybody else.

First (shakedown) test. No one will be showing their cards until Melbourne.

Too much time between now and then to put in changes before the containers leave for Oz

but Ferrari will claim it as a positive sign anyway

I'm hoping Melbourne will give us a good indication of how the season is going to shape out - with no bizarre crashes or reliability problems which hide the true potential of the cars.

day 2. Ferrari fastest, Mcl now reliably doing 6 laps per day.

Mcl now reliably doing 6 laps per day.

 lol

I seriously hope Mclaren put in a decent amount of laps tomorrow, another 6 laps will indicate some serious issues.

As it stands i think Lotus have the better looking car this year.

Why tomorrow? Over 30 laps today before a coolant leak ended play. Slowly finding their feet.
