Thinking about a Rapid Sport and have been offered a great deal - is it a wise move?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Yes, been offered a barely believable deal on a new Rapid Sport and although i've commited to taking a Citigo Monte Carlo, i'm thinking about changing my mind to the Rapid.

I already love the engine as have experienced it in my mums elegance Fabia, the looks are slowly growing on me and even as the second car, we could do with the extra space that it offers for barely anymore monthly outgoing.

Just a standard car but i have a few questions if i may?  I have seen conflicting info online and the configurator has been known to lie!

  • Can you fit mudflaps all round to the car, how much are they and do they look good?
  • Is the car definately 6 speed?
  • Are carpet / rubber floor mats standard?
  • Is climate standard or just manual air con?
  • Are Eibach springs approved by Skoda and what drop would this acheive?  Any ideas on price fitted?  The car sits FAR too high!
  • Is music streaming and taking calls a faff or is it quite easy?  I'm used to columbus and Amudsen.
  • Has the spec changed?  I see now they are part of the range - did specs change at this time?  Cruise standard?  MFD?
  • Black grille an option?

I'm debating over the colour but dislike white to be honest but seems this deal may only be on a white one.  Would prefer Corrida, Race Blue or Rallye Green.

Lastly, ae there any issues i should query with the car with the dealer before i commit and has there been any updates since launch?

I'm aware that it essentially very old tech, but for the money, it's a cracking car in my opinion - at least on the face of it?

Thanks very much in advance,

Dave :-)

Hi my Sport is 2 months old now.

To answer your questions.

I have Mudflaps all round on mine and look great as they're OEM ones.

The car is definitely 6 speed gearbox and very nice too [emoji106]

Carpet/Rubber mats you need to buy seperate from the deal unless you can twist there arm [emoji6]

The Sport has manual air con.

Eibachs are Skoda approved and will give a 30 mm drop and I've been quoted £160 fitted [emoji4]

Music/phone is simple with the Swing unit. You set up your connection with MFD. I've got the Amunsden in mine as It was a deal breaker for me.

Cruise control comes as standard and there's no other changes.

Black grille isn't an option but the Monte Carlo grille surround is coming available soon. I'm waiting for this at the moment.

Mine is Race Blue and I love it [emoji106][emoji16]

With regards to asking the dealer things I would ask him if the rear door seals have been modified as they have a problem with the doors filling with water.

Don't be put off by the last part though as it's an easy fix you won't be disappointed with the car as its a cracking motor the 1.2tsi [emoji106]

I've seen mega deals on autotrader lately on a new white Rapid sport - but also on a Toledo SE which is loaded with kit in comparison.

Obviously the mad prices are on vehicles in stock, so the spec is what it is.

Hi all

Thanks for your replies.

I think it's the right thing to do all things considered.  £189 deposit, £189 pcm on a 42 month PCP at 10k per annum with mats and flaps included and with cashback of £500. Bit of a bargain really and its taken 1.5 days of fairly constant haggling to get there - in work time too which is a bit naughty.

Candy white standard car.  However with some eibachs and a wee map, should be decent enough.  Saw one today on Autotrader with flaps - looks dead decent - EVERY car needs flaps!

Cheers, Dave

What's the balloon payment at the end like?

Just over £5k.  I'll have it just over a year perhaps and then get into a new Fabia Combi - by that time they'll be on 0%.

I've just changed my Citigo today for a Toledo. Got the same engine as the Rapid, infact same-ish car, Seat branded.

The Citigo is a brilliant little car and I really couldn't fault it, all be it a few minor things could be changed on it to make it even better. The Toledo well it's fully loaded nothing missing that I can really say I want in a car but it's early days. Oh and the price, I paid £1.5k less for my Citigo 2 years ago, so a bargain.

I was thinking this too [emoji106]

You've made a good choice with the Sport [emoji4]

Mudflaps on white (sounds like a sandwich) - I have this and it looks good.

In the Rapid Project section on here, Trevorb33 has eibachs on a white Toledo.  Looks good lowered and he gives feedback about the ride too.

Unfortunately he's deleted the pics. Would have been interested to see how it looked.

I liked it without the big arch gaps.

Why not PM him and see some pics.
