speedo and rev counter lights

Featured Replies

Is there any way of having the speedo and rev counter dials lit up without having the actual car lights on?

The needles are lit up but not the numbers.

They seem a bit dull in day time.

Im sure there is an ambient light sensor in the cluster that determines whether the dials also light up or just the needles.

Best way to test, if you have auto lights disable them then find a tunnel/dim location to drive through and it should trigger the dial lighting.

By all means I cant prove this outright so if those better versed think im talking carp please do say so as I could be wrong.

Mine light up automatically when the light gets low inside the car, independant of what the headlights are doing....

The needles are lit all the time, backlight is sensor controlled.

Mine does this, so does the Wifes CitiGo

Always lit dashboards are probably one of the biggest reasons morons are driving about with no lights on in the dark. If they looked down and saw all their instruments are too dark to read, they might realise they need to put their lights on.

Auto lights are best for morons, turn the switch to auto and forget about em.  I appreciate not all models have auto lights but, morons be advised auto lights will reduce the number of accidents and flashes you have/get

The Yeti has an ambient light sensor in the bottom of the rev counter dial. If the needles are lit and the dial not its a subtle reminder that its dark enough to turn your lights on. If you shine a torch at the rev counter when its dark, the dial backlight can be seen turning on and off.

As above, if you can't see the numbers on your speedo, put your lights on SIMPLES.

Agreed ednmra, I have day time riding lights, but they do not illuminate the dash lights when under trees the digits are almost invisible---so many different configurations on the Octavia.
