It's funny how some days your car can feel average. Not that quick, a bit wallowy in corners, doesn't stop that well, despite running better suspension and better pads. Lots of this was because I drove a Z4M a while back which was stunning and was such a jarring experience one will be my next car and I'm actively looking. Plus I'm getting bored of Skoda ownership and the brand generally.

But today after coming back from work early as I'd only gone in to make sure things were running Ok I really wanted to get home. It's only a 7 mile stretch of road but today it's wet and icy, it's 1C, I'm running Khumo's which I'm not that happy with anyway and the cold won't help them. Conditions were far from ideal yet today it felt awesome. Drove "briskly" from the factory back to the flat and there was balance, manageable grip, engine was pulling well and it felt brilliant. It's almost as if the car has good days and bad days and today it was very good. Just doesn't make sense given the conditions. It's the best it's felt for a long time.

I have felt the same (not with wanting to get rid, I'm gonna keep and develop untile its next to awesome! ;0 )BUT the other day, it just felt a bit slow..... was gonna start to look into why, then a day or so later (after just commuting, and a few lessons) I gave it a proper blast down some familiar roads, over took a few cars, hammerred it... wow. it was awesome! couldt stop smiling... it felt alive! :)

plus since putting the winters and spacers on, I have had the back out, which is always nice! lol.....

note: don't say i didn't warn you about the kumho's!  :P

*runs.

I spoke to a guy who installs remaps and he said that previously he'd had to do something additional with the temperature that the program was reading as it sometimes gets it wrong and then your not getting the full power output. Can't remember what it was but he said some days it will be fine and others it'll feel down on power.

Some days your driving can be looking average too!

Driving through the Scottish hills near Crieff a few years ago, I couldn't keep up with my half blind 75 y.o. father in law on the icy roads.

Later found out he'd finally discovered how to use all the toys on his Merc, traction, ebd, eba, yada yada.

Previously he'd always turned it all off to stop the lights flashing at him on the dash :o

I was in an Astra with none of that kit and could barely stay on the road in the same conditions...

I know what you mean. Sometimes i think its all in your head tbh.

Sometimes it feels quick, then once your heads up to speed its average again.

Which is a shame. Cos its an awesome feeling going fast isnt it haha

Worth reading the owners manual on the Fabia, the DSG section and 'Dynamic Shifting'.

After a track day and when driving on public roads it always feels like it left two cylinders on the track :D - all subjective after getting used to mad cornering speeds and brown pants braking on the track. It is all in your head!

When it feels slow I look at the instruments and they tell me it is not slow at all :). Also "S" mode has different DSG and Clutch map which makes it more rapid

This always annoyed me with the Fabia, some days it felt rapid, explosive and pulled strong from idle to redline.

Other days it felt lathargic, gereatric almost. Very strange, it was almost like the ECU was holding things back becuase of signals it was getting.

Glad it's not just me.

I'll try talk with the guy who remapped mine to find out what he did to fix the temperature issue as maybe it's a common problem and indeed your remap isn't working correctly.

I will never know, the car is gone now :p

Even when standard it was the same. They are complex little engines, I always did wonder that sometimes it wasn't performing the same as others.

I think the DSG fuzzy logic can play a part in this.

I also felt this in my car, but always less when punting it in manual.

My car is rarely in D and I always use paddles.
