Yes your right they are plastic, the ALU edition means the colour. They are a hard and good quality plastic. Yes will fit vRS.  Regarding fitting looking on the internet you will need to remove the door panels (via a few screws and clips) to install the handles.

I've fitted theses to my vrs very easy to do. If you've got the right tools to do the job. Not the best picture
