Featured Replies

So the vrs is going to be due a new set of boots soon into the new year, i am looking to try a set of federal 595 rsr's in 215/40/17 but my question is has anyone tried the 215/45/17 size on the vrs???

Thanks in advance

Yes a couple of members were running 215/45 R 17,  but they really are to big by total diameter / rolling circumference.

The Federals should be perfect in the right weather/use.

215/40 R 17 is perfect size on a vRS it is the standard size on the sister cars,

but they are not necessarily bigger physically than some other brand of 205/40 R 17.

Brand & type dependent.

ie Pirreli 205/40 R 17 can be as big as some of Brand of 215's,  but just not as much tread width.

They are bigger / taller side by side than my M+S marked 215/40 R 17 Goodrides.

(The measurement comes from the wall width and some tyres have rim protectors)

Thanks tattyjay and George, I forgot to mention that I had used search tool but not found that thread, that's cracking info!!! The standard continentals look a bit silly because they are stretched to the rim width, I always liked the oem set up on my mk1, thought that was spot on.
