Sorry if this is a repost but some great photos of a black L&K inside and out: http://www.auto.cz/test-skoda-superb-2-0-tdi-dsg-4x4-l-k-mladoboleslavske-dieselove-nejvic-87567

Yeah much nicer looking than the MK2 which is a bit of a munter in all honesty, now they have such a reputation for rear space i reckon it will be a strong seller

I don't think its a munter, it just didn't follow conventional design trends. Personally, I like it because it isn't conventional; the MKIII appears to be more so, which I agree, will make it a stronger seller....

Susan Boyle isn't a conventional beauty either . Lol

In six years of ownership no one has once said to me "that's a beautiful car you have "

Mk2 combi is better looking but the mk3 is a good looking car imo

The great thing about cars is that you don't have to look at them when you're travelling. I've always judged a car from the inside out and have always valued space. I have even owned an Austin Maxi and an Austin Allegro in my time. I would however draw the line at the original Fiat Multipla or the Ssanyong Rodius!! I have yet to see an overall package better than the Superb and the new one looks even better (inside out!)

Absolutely agree with 100andthirty. You spend more time in the car driving around and not just that...we interact with switches/controls/displays in a car lot more than our interaction with the outside of the car such as door handles, boot opening etc. Hence, interior wins here in my opinion and that's the case with SII. But, in SIII's case, looks like they've achieved a pretty good interior package without having a major compromise on the exterior looks. Well done, Skoda

Interested to know as it's so unappealing, what made you choose to buy it in the first place?

100andthirty summed it up , the inside is excellent and you don't see the outside when driving.

The combi was not available when I bought mine and I think they look better since the rear of the hatch is the worst angle imo . You don't have to think a car is a looker to buy it and to enjoy it , it's been an excellent purchase

I love the look

Might consider one, if they discount the 280 TSI enough.

;)

Guys, why the exhaust tailpipes haven't been exposed in most of the official photos of SIII? As far as I can remember only the show car on the day when they revealed had the twin exhaust....since then, I haven't seen any!

I remember Josef Kaban saying in the past that Skoda may move towards deletion of exhaust pipes to make the cars look more green....etc....I wonder what strategy they for SIII whether Greenline models wouldn't have any exhaust pipes or even the other variants would be included!

Am I right thinking that there won't be an 'Elegance' spec but only S, SE, SE-L and L&K?? Wonder how the low spec headlights are gonna be  :peek:  :peek:

The front bumper is a huge improvement from the current Octavia (not vRS).....

Trim levels are supposed to be Active, Ambition, Style and L&k so I guess Style is the equivalent of elegance. I assume this is all market dependent though as the trim names will be different across Europe. In Ireland for example we currently have Active, Ambition, Elegance and L&k, whereas in the UK it's slightly different with S, SE, SE Business, Elegance and L&K so for S3 presumably it will remain as four core factory trims with local variants. I do prefer 'Elegance' to 'Style' though as the latter reminds me of a low spec Focus or Peugeot :) :)

You could have made similar comments re. the last Ford Scorpio!

I've only driven one, & that was an estate so it only had the scary front to contend with, but it was a nice drive, & with a very pleasant interior.

The autoexpress article only had approximate prices, and was yesterday.

The autocar is a new article from today, and implies that the prices have now been officially released, rather than just estimates

Not really...Autocar article is from yesterday too. Moreover, current Superb starts from £18,690 so I will be really surprised if it starts from £18,640 as per Autocar. We will know the official price range soon....

I've had a look at the B8 today and if that's anything to go by the Superb is going to be one amazing car,

I didn't get to sit in it but I noticed how much larger it looked over the B6 B7 models, inside it looks quite classy even though in pictures it doesn't grab me,

The estate which was out on the road didn't have the larger look to it but the saloon looked a good bit chunkier than the model it replaced, and a whole lot sexier as well.

I think I did lol! A mate used to have a phrase that involved mantelpieces and poking fires that comes to mind

:o  :o  :o

Sounds good on paper...Hope the value for money will be better than SII. If it doesn't then attracting buyers from other brands such as Mondeo, Maz 6, Insig and even Passat will be a huge challenge to meet their expected sales. This is a very competitive segment...New Mondeo starts from £20,795 and Passat from £22,215 and Maz 6 from 19,795.......

So pricing looks good for SIII, now we need to wait for the standard features and see how it may undercut its rivals.

I test drove one the other day. Yes, agree...it does look a lot wider may be coz of low nose and flat bonnet. SIII will be wider than that but may not be obvious coz of all the creases on the bonnet and I don't think the headlights are that low compared to new Passat.
