looks nice but 35k for the top model, i think more people will buy a vw or an audi for a few k more

Be interesting what the combi looks like, also means prices for the current outdoor will come down as quite a fan of those.

Looks like matured Octavia.. the difference I see is that the Old generation Superb always looked like Extended Limo,

The same is missing atleast in a Pic.. Its mix of VW/Audi/Skoda..

With a hint of some lines from the Insignia looking at those pics....!

Am I the only one who is very excited to see the interior?

Am I the only one who is very excited to see the interior?

Yeah, that would be good.

Has anyone seen any pictures of the estate car yet. All the pictures and sketches I've seen are of the hatchback.

If the chassis is the same as the new passat, which I have tried out 2 weeks ago, I wont like it much as in the new passat the b pillar was level with my hips and when I opened the drivers door fully  i couldnt reach the door handle from the drivers seat as the drivers door is hinged about 12 inches further forwards.

It felt very awkward and badly designed so I am going to order a current Superb over the next month just incase the new superb is like the new passat.

Hi twinhatch Tony,

Yes, I see your point when the door is fully opened as the Passat has a 360 degree grab positioned forward of the door to allow the door armrest & switch pack. But this pushes the grab further forward and can be an issue especially when it is fully opened and you try to close the door when you can't reach. Unfortunately, the new Superb has the same type of grab from the pics I've seen so far (same door grab as seen in many VW's, A6, A4 etc). The current Superb has a pull cup grab which is located slightly rearward compared to the other one and mitigates these issues.

But, although the grab is the same, Seating reference point in Superb will be different to the Passat and so the occupant vs B pillar relationship. So possibly, you may not have the issue in Superb....worth the wait to physically try and see how you feel : )

Looks a bit like a LWB B8 Passat to me,

Approved.

Might just be a whole lot better in the flesh!

Bit OT but having driven mums Superb and owned a B6 Passat myself the Skoda like my MK1 was feels leaps and bounds above the Passat in build quality, when I px'd the Superb 1 for the B6 I actually felt like someone had downgraded me from a 5* hotel to a 3* one

I agree, I've seen the new Passat 'in the flesh' so to speak and its nothing special over the old model but that's typical VW I suppose

Not sure if it will look like this, I think there is still an "element" of Photoshop....

Superb....

Audi A6....

Look a little too close to me ;)

Maybe just me....

I definitely see the A6 resemblance from some of the shots alright and that's not all photoshop either. I see elements of an older generation A4 in the rear of the new Octavia! From what I can see VAG tend to take lines of previous models from their more premium brands and use them for Skoda and Seat. I suppose it helps to reduce design costs which is logical. Park a Seat Exeo beside a previous generation A4 for example!

The Exeo is a re-badged version of the older A4.

That's true alright, maybe not the best example but shows the value you can get from a parts bin. I think they even moved some of the old A4 production lines to the Seat factory.

Well, they also moved the number plate position, and fitted the A4 cabriolet interior. Surely that would be considered as an A4 mid-life facelift?

No really a face-lift,  just new bonnet, tailgate / boot pressings so that SEAT could claim the the Exeo was their "new" car.

AFAIK the whole old A4 production line was moved to Spain, but then SEAT is supposed to be Audi's economy brand but since it

doesn't have enough earned money to develop it's own car in that segment it had to take what it's parent had available.

We did try both variants, but ended up buying a Mk2 Octy instead, it felt like it was a more honest car.

The more I look at it and the B8 I'm convinced VAG has gone back to the Sup I idea of stretching the Passat and adding some Skoda design to the front and back, which imo makes sense to do so, guess we'll have to compare the wheelbase and width when it arrives to see how similar they are, pretty sure it's the same body with different front and back wings, the Superb body line runs higher than the Passat and the rear doors have a < shaped opera window.1/4 light rather than the Passat one which eats more rear pillar than the Superb, rear light assemblies are similar, dash is similar, door cards are similar, controls and clocks are similar,

I reckon this is going to be a Passat clone lengthened out by probably 6 inches,

Exciting times eh, I really like both of them and should be placed for one nicely in 24 mths time when the Insignia is due to go, unless VX pull another master out of the bag that is with the next Insignia, do fancy a nice 1.8TSi DSG next, very impressed generally with that engine as long as it's reliable and hasn't still got the weak spots, I figure being petrol it will be cheaper than a derv and from what I can see with my mums one there ain't much in it fuel wise between the petrol and derv engines.
