I hope it does too. Don't follow the blinkered press tho. Agenda is always present, and some cars suit some people better, doesn't mean the car is actually better

  • That came out a few weeks ago. 2.5tfsi with a turbo swap to 500bhp and a VW racing intake.  Same as my Yeti.   Bet it's fun, I know mine is.  Good power delivery at 500bhp from the 2.5 5 pot engine

  • Every DSG car I've had, I've got bored of rather quickly. More speed. Less fun. IMO.

I know, only commenting mate. Press give you preconceived that's good or bad

I just have to wonder that VAG are up to.

 

Admittedly I am also waiting on a test drive of the RS3.

But the Golf R is about the best they've managed so far and it does feel a little bit safe.  And blends in a little bit too much for me.

 

The RS3 will be auto only.

The Golf R estate will be auto only.

The R400 will be a 3 door only.

 

Do VAG think that if you have the money for a nice hyper hatch that costs more than a Golf R you either don't like changing gear or don't have kids to put in the back?

Not sure how joined up VAG marketing is with product from each company.

Not sure if R400 will be 3 DR only, don't think I've seen that anywhere to be honest.

My only recollection of a query, was if it was to be "limited volume"- don't think that will be so on what I've read so far.

I only wish VW would release some more details about the R400 "Production model.

At least Ford have uncovered most details about the Focus RS 12 months upfront.

No idea.

Lots of interesting cars out there and coming out.

But buying on a whim really.

When I drive the Skyline I realise how sensible modern cars are.

Don't need any of them in all honesty.

 

My Wife can only drive auto.

The auto boxes are probably best sellers, better co2 and don't require 3 clutches and dual mass flywheels in warranty periods :)

A big shout for DSG! I am Lewis/Seb/nico in my own downshift lunchtime. I thought I'd hate an auto box, but I've really warmed to the paddle shift. I rarely use any other mode, the only criticism is it's a bit clunky on an accelerating downshift (ie a manual kick down).

I think it's a playstation / X Box thing Richard. I never had anything like that as a kid, and now as I find myself approaching 50, I like to think I'm able to compete with my kids. TBH, I spend so much time driving up and down motorways that auto is mildly preferable as stop start traffic jams are slightly more tolerable because of it. I miss the tactility of a manual though, the need for skill to be able to change quickly and smoothly.

While I have prefered a manual for some time, it's my Fiesta ST that's really got me involved.

A bit of rev matching, heel and tow etc... while just driving about normally just makes me smile.

I do it now when driving the Roomster and it works really well in the Yeti-RS on track, makes it so much fun and involving.

Same here, I have a manual S3 after and A6 stronic. Manual wins for me

Does 70 mph at the same 70 mph as the 300ps version.

Does everything the same as the 300 ps edition, and probably needs launch control activated to better the 300 ps version to 62 mph.

 

If it does get to 62 mph quicker, it probably needs the better brakes to get it back to 0 mph at the next lights.

Probably will need better tyres than the 300 ps model comes with if it is going to be quicker 0-100 then back to 0 mph on a damp road.

 

So the Volkswagen Group has caught the attention of Magazine and Forum readers,

like the RS3 Adverts and Motoring Media hype has, 

will they sell many in the UK to actual customers paying their money, or just a Halo model?

It is good there are choices and cars evolve and develop and move on.

 

How are Audi S1 Sales going in the UK, new and used.

How are the Twin Charger (Dual Charge) developments going now that after 10 years VW have discontinued them,

never got that sorted, moved onto Turbo and Cylinder Deactivation / on Demand.

 

Now Electric Superchargers are their next big thing.

 

They need to sort out the engine blocks and liners, heads and high oil consumption in the everyday common or garden engines,

get their products 100% reliable when putting out normal power out puts,

& if introducing New Technology and advances, not at the cost of the buying public while they move on and try 

to just brush failures under the carpet.

Watchdog had some success with Audi 2.0 tfsi, however they never championed the Fabia vRS MK2 Cause.

Why, because it had the case in the USA - USA are far better at championing the Consumer case than the EU /UK legislation !

The R400 will be on show in the UK soon ,PERHAPS THEY CAN ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT IT'S PRODUCTION - 3 or 5 DR etc.

They are still saying its a concept car by the looks of it. Fingers crossed it gets the go ahead for production.

How Q Cars should look i would think, understated,

where as the R400 shouts,  print my pictures and have 'Anticipation' threads online.
