  • Nice to see it in the flesh@GTI International last weekend.

  • That came out a few weeks ago. 2.5tfsi with a turbo swap to 500bhp and a VW racing intake.  Same as my Yeti.   Bet it's fun, I know mine is.  Good power delivery at 500bhp from the 2.5 5 pot engine

  • Every DSG car I've had, I've got bored of rather quickly. More speed. Less fun. IMO.

Most of the R&D costs would have been spent by now imo.

So only productionization(shares same production line as current Golf R) cost left ,minor body changes & engine tweaks on current R 2.0LTR. Brakes and suspension subtle uplifting.

Ford baiting VW today, with the even Hotter Focus RS in Autocar today!!

This is the Big Cut Back announcement day at VW.

They need to big up what the do very well now, and keep improving on what they have and also sort out their mess

with current owners before introducing cars just to get magazine coverage. IMO

They already make less per vehicle sold than the other big manufacturers.

Which bit of VAG?

Some brands in VAG make a huge profit, others some profit, the only one which they lose on is Seat ...................

"Huge Profits."  Really?,

well they will not be in such a mess financially!

No need for propping up by Financial Institutions, just go into all that Huge Savings from Huge Profits that they have available.

The Financial Times speak of 'The Brand'  and the Brand we are talking about is Volkswagen,

so who knows if it is the Volkswagen Group of only VW, Audi, Seat & Skoda,

or 'The Brand' including Porsche, Bentley, Veyron etc,  & it all averages out.

Anyway the blame seems to be getting put on the Unions power, so we will see what The Brand of VW announce today.

Well the only info I have was reported on 30th July Autocar magazine,

Total profit per brand

VW €2.9bn = €617 per car

Audi €5.03bn = €3,725 per car

Skoda €522m = €726 per car

Bentley €168m = €15,272 per car

Porsche €2.58bn = €16,645 per car

Seat -€152m = -€307 per car loss

As I said Seat has for a very long time lost money for VAG. Also Lamborghini, MAN, Scania, Ducati, Bugatti are not listed here

If VW do make a Net Profit per car or 1000 Euro less than the Worlds Biggest Car Manufacturer Toyota that

hardly seems like a 'Huge Profit'.

But then its not always about profits, its providing jobs and paying taxes, and VW seem to be said to employ too many which might

be a good thing as long as they can still make profits and pay the correct taxes.

Kieth, I think the last line on VW's official R400 webpage says it all -

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/about-us/futures/r400

999pooch,

Not sure of the date  of that website insert but prior to the emissions crisis, VW Exec were adamant that it was a Production Goer

So still no definite decision on the R400 whilst M2 and Focus RS get all the current HYPE!

So will VW (VAG) have the balls to Productionise!!?? Lets see that sub 4.0 sec. to 60 mph and 35mpg, that is a genuine family car at sensible money under £40k in basic form.

I have now decided 'Powerrrr' is no longer cool.

I want to be a Hippyster with a BUDD-e or even a aRse-Touch e-Golf.

Not sure which will be of least use on the flooded roads, i hope they screens are not prone to condensation.

Never thought that you George would turn into a "silver surfer"( smooth top) old fart at last!!lol

May be VW can drop the 5 pot noise machine into the R and show the Audi Engineers how it should have been done!!

Kenny, long time no hear. Happy New Year.

Ever the eternal optimist! Just want it to do the business over the M2 & Focus RS that all. Lol

Only joking,just a fair fight.

It really does not seem to fit in with all the Volkswagen Group Media releases on the various brands Hybrid Electric / Green  Vehicles & Saving the planet really.

Then they need to get their Petrol 4 Cylinder engines behaving to their previously published emissions, and noise etc,

or revise those figures.

Any sign of the Golf GTI Clubsport being reviewed as tested on UK roads?

Or more mention of the Clubsport Lightweights.?

  • Author

The press @ launch testing day on the GTI Clubsport , said they would be taking orders in January 2016.

Asked my local dealer a few weeks ago, they had no info. So asked them to mail some details when known.

To date bugger all.
