Featured Replies

How Q Cars should look i would think, understated,

where as the R400 shouts, print my pictures and have 'Anticipation' threads online.

We'd better get our road tests booked with our friendly VW dealer now

  • Nice to see it in the flesh@GTI International last weekend.

  • That came out a few weeks ago. 2.5tfsi with a turbo swap to 500bhp and a VW racing intake.  Same as my Yeti.   Bet it's fun, I know mine is.  Good power delivery at 500bhp from the 2.5 5 pot engine

  • Every DSG car I've had, I've got bored of rather quickly. More speed. Less fun. IMO.

Is that the royal we, as in you and me,  or a general we?

Sounds like digs at vrskeith actually,

and i think he might be a buyer, rather than a tyre kicker and time waster.

Real life pictures make me really want one , twin central pipes look much better than one for each cylinder. Love the alloys too they'd look good on mine

Don't like the chromed shiny wheels but everything else is spot on. Love the lashings of carbon and those twin exhausts are lovely!

Oh oh,

Financial Crisis at VW,  not going to be painless.

Volkswagen need to slash costs, revisit etc etc.   Will the R400 be one of the first casualties?

Was it ever more than a promotional vehicle anyway?

Volkswagen in F1 in 2017.

Maybe they best see the customers right that gave them the wealth to think of going into F1 for the World Wide advertising.

Give what money they were going to waste with Bernie to anyone that has any loss in value of a VW bought with their hard earned money.

Can't see why the R400 will be axed ,as most of the development work / cost will have been completed by now.

Also the productionisation  of the car would presumable use most of current existing plant and equipment.

VW will still need flagship models, being that other manufacturers will be bringing theirs through in the next year or two in a relative volume sector .

Makes sense.

Oh oh tho,  Often there is lots of publicity with Halo models, S1, Audi RS3, Polo GTI, E-Tronic, GT-e etc but then sales do not pour in from this.

Maybe VW need to make them reliable and affordable and really green and get selling in volume.

The Up! GT was ready to go last year and they pulled it. The demand was there..in a crisis nothing is safe and a car like the R400 won't be a 'must have in range.' I imagine a lot of good stuff will get pulled/toned down.

Low cost fallback to remain competitive would be to give the R a face lift power boost as they have done with GTI Clubsport. Uplift to say 350 PS.and other components.

The Golf GTI Clubsport is a 40th Anniversary Special Edition model celebrating 40 years of the GTI,

& sort of in tribute to everything in life being as reliable as a Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen Group Board might not be congratulating themselves at the Extraordinary Meeting today.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

'Advancement through Technology'  or 'Truth in Engineering'

or maybe 'If in a hurry to get to the top place cheat'.

The Golf R400 or R420 now it seems to be called might need to prove its actual CO2 g/km as used on the road before it is launched for public sale Globally.

Having had their fingers burnt "Big Time" George, I think their sales focus will probably be on Petrol models, E- Hyb' etc.  until the diesels issues on Recalls are well and truly sorted .

Going forward they will also make sure that all Diesels will  surpass legislation requirement,"legally".

I imagine there will be a complete overhaul of the emissions testing protocol, as the greens are now on everyone's case about the difference between lab and real world results. VW so far is the only oem that had deliberately tried to frig the results.... Good time to buy a used GTD golf!

So if the R400 falls ,as a result of the emissions scandal. wlll this be my best low cost option if VW don't do the equivalent  of a (Ford) Mountune.

I notice from my previous download from Oettinger, that their PS420 VERSION HAS BEEN REMOVED.

I wonder if this is a nudge from VW, on the basis of a new model pending?
