Just buy the car if it checks out and you like it. It never crosses my mind how much it's going to be worth in x years time. I buy the car because I like it and in the time that I own it I'll get my moneys worth out of it, plus the vRS will cost peanuts to run compared to your old R32 I can guarantee you that as I came from thirsty hot hatches to one myself. It's not the most fun car to drive but it makes up for it in other ways.

Yeah your deffo right I guess, many thanks for the link.

Final question hehe, on autotrader ad it says 06/01/2016 is the next mot due date but on the vosa website it shows latest date as test as

Date of test: 27/01/2014 Expiry date: 24/02/2015.. Am i missing something here.

When I get the car also I plan on doing a FULL health check to make sure everything is as how it should be, if someone comes up, with the 3 months standard warranty, is there anything excluded when it comes to the warranty? thanks

Future value is a gamble.

They could keep the cult status they have now and you lose £1k tops.

Or people could realise it's a 10 year old diesel Fabia with nice seats and paint.

Which would see values of around £3k.

The latter sounds bad, but in real terms that's only depreciation of £20 per week.

So fine IMO.

Cars are not an investment generally.

I had to lol @ this. This is pretty much the reason why I am buying it. It's not bad looking car, love the colour and fan of the leather seats, plus it's a desiel.

I might even keep it beyond 3 years tbh, I guess no one can predict the future, I thought I was keeping the r32 for many years but the fuel costs, and the tax was just not worth it in the end.

As said, this money is buying a Blue Car, our Black car does not have a LE number on the leather seats just VRS, I think this is the only difference, apart from the obvious 56 plate. You can get 07 plates that are not Blue. Personally I would save money as Blue is not my favourite colour

I hate the cloth seats in the normal vrs's though, a matter of fact I generally hate all cloth seats in cars.

I guess really I am paying for the colour, the le edtion cult and the seats but in a way, some of these standard vrs's are still selling not far from 6k.

I'm stuck in two minds tbh, need to have a long think, I think I just need to go up there and see it in the flesh.

Just make sure you take someone up there with you who will give you their honest opinion. And not, no offence, looking at it with rose tinted glasses. I've made that mistake years ago and not done so again since. If you like it and it's what you want get it and enjoy it.

SE's are crazy money. There is no denying it. The fact that the ordinary vRS is still a loved and sought-after car just fuels the craziness the SE seems to inspire in people.

Just get ANY vRS. You won't be unhappy. They FEEL like the fastest thing you've ever driven, but you'll only visit the filling station half as often as you used to and you will genuinely marvel at how quiet it is on a motorway cruise. It's far more civilised than any revvy petrol engined car will ever be.

Look at it this way. You can't lose any more than £6000 on it.

I was just about to get my wheels done in black on mine but think I will stay silver now :-)

No fabia SE is worth the price

Could think of a lot more cars id rather spend an inflated 6 grand on

It is not showing as being registered with Companies House.

is that a bad thing?

From what i gather calling them, they are a two man setup.

There are only two exceptions for registration.

Sole trader. In this case they are trading in their personal capacity and have no limitation of liability.

It may be that the person you are dealing with is a sole trader. They may be trading under their own name or under a commercial name but must not use the term Ltd, LLC or PLC.

Partnership. A partnership is two or more self employed people working together. The business is not a legal entity and the partners are personally liable for any debts of the business. Typically businesses that operate as partnerships are Architects and Accountants.

If you suspect somebody is masquerading as a company and is not registered, check with Companies House on their web check service. Enter the name of the company and see what comes up.

I do get a bit worried when buying used cars now because i was mislead buy the seller of my mk5 r32, said they had kw v3's when it was a different case when taking them off and he knew about it as he purchased from new. Along with having to fork out over £500 for lambda sensors which kept playing up, (same day i picked it up) & flywheel was going..

And thats the crazy thing, anyone with half a clue and motivation would just buy a standard car and change the seats. So many of us have and for chips money in many cases, not half a grand as many have when seeking out the rare SE seats. I took Recaros in my case and haven't been happier and colour coded to my (sprint) yellow too.

Are our cars inferior to the SE just because they don't have "standard" seats from the factory and aren't blue ?

Each to their own and all the best to those that love their SE's, I'm not one to **** on that bonfire, and its clearly a distinctive and great flavour of a great car.

But ......for the silly prices, I'd get 2 standard or modified late vRS's at peanut prices (I'd be looking for a one owner car something like mine and certainly not something with a chequered past.....number of owners is just as important as miles !)

I bought my car new, I paid 11k ish for it what, some almost 8-9 years or something like that and that was when it was coming to the end of production. I wouldn't sell it, as I'd happily continue to run it until the engine drops out and for whats its worth to me is not worth the pitiful £2.5K or whatever that someone would want to give for a 118K miler 56k plate BLT !

I just think that anyone that really thinks its worth the 6K+ money for an old car, seriously needs their head checked ;)

I bought a 3 year old black vrs from skoda back in the day with 33k miles. Options were cruise and heated seats for 7 grand

Yes 7 grand. Vrs prices nowadays are crazy

I could get it down to 5500 would that make it a good deal?

I know what your saying though, it's just the same car, just different seats and different lick of paint but how much would I be paying for normal vrs at 60k with 2 owners, full service history history and in mint condtion? I'd think around 4k right? then getting the limited seats in, another 800 ish?

I think i will just go down there tommorrow, got nothing to do anyway, see what it is like, offer 5500 if they don't take it say my goodbyes and probably just buy a any damn car for 2.5k and use the other amount to build a few websites. Not buying a vrs though, the cloth seats i had in my renault clio campus have scarred me for life! :P

Always a nervous thing getting a used car. Hope its as good as it looks.

I've decided to leave it. Shame really seems like a nice example, I just want to make my money go far and I think buying this wouldn't be wise, I don't really go anywhere other than college, shops and now that I'm self employed, no commuting so there's no point shelling out 6k for a car I'm harding going to use.

So on the lookout for something cheap and reliable, maybe a vrs? :) That's my budget, the less, the better!

Thanks for everyone's advice seems a like a good forum this, can't be said over @ the r32oc forum though!

Compared to this one it's a bargain http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-1-9-TDI-PD-130-vRS/261684707900?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140407115239%26meid%3D0ca4d0eb703d45ca8eef2bea2e1c9b41%26pid%3D100204%26prg%3D20140407115239%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D121532317036

It's quite remarkable how well the Vrs's hold their value. Tidy car by the way.

You can get a decent one for quite a bit less though if your really set on getting one. Perhaps you should keep looking chap.

I think you have made the right decision. To me a Fabia vRS SE with non-standard wheels, dark rear tints, black painted grille and debadged rear does not equate to being mint. But each to their own.

I think I would have to agree with DGW, with modifications of any sort minor or aggressive it is no longer a mint car or even standard, even though I have to admit the car does look very very nice. You would not know the history but if someone has gone to the cost of making it look this nice, I would be surprised if a few additions hadn't been made to the engine, easily returned to standard to try and use the minter card.

We paid 5500 6 years ago, Black, full factory fitted Black Leather, Cruise, Multi Changer full service history, not continued with and only failed 1 MOT, Best buy I ever made.

dark rear tints.

Privacy glass from the B pillar back is an SE feature.

Well you could always get a VRS with leather or get the leather seats fitted later not exactly difficult, just pick up a nice enough VRS to start with. Full history, the right mileage for you and the colour you want. Mine's white and isn't even a factory option, so they're out there. :)

If you are savvy, you can fit decent seats without breaking the bank. its just about good timing. Dunno where the £800 comes from, most of us would do it much cheaper

(admittedly a few impatient people have scrambled for the SE seats and paid close to that £800 but you are talking custom made to measure leather seats made for you car for that money).

e.g. my case. Mint original seats sold=£150

donor seats=£40, recaros leather (two tone color matched to my car)=£210

(So full cost of replacement=£100 + a few fuel costs).

What are SE seats anyway ? Just leather seats with a bit of piping, to suite the car they are matched to. There is a leather seat thread with all the different retro seat installs many of us have done.

2006 on BLTs can be had for < £4k (mores the pity, as I've had mine from new and its sad to see the price drop). But thats reality.

With a bit of luck you might get something late from £2500+ I think you made the right decision personally and don't rush to buying your car, there are plenty of used cars about

Also this "low miles" BS.....most mk1 fabia are 8 years old at least now. That means avg mileage = 120k (if its been driven properly). I'd worry about buying a car at 60K or something that old. What is wrong with it !!
