And it's another Newbie Superb owner Hill Hold question

Recommended Posts

I have today signed the order form on a Jan 2014 Superb Elegance est. At this point my main question is, The car has all the tricks and toys auto lights, wipers etc. BUT no hill hold. Is hill hold something that my trusty VCDS will allow me to activate? Or is it something I can ask the dealer to activate before I collect it?

Cheers

Ray

It can be done via VCDS as long as it has a compatible ABS unit which i would have thought it would have being a new car. I had it enabled on mine via VCDS along with XDS which isn't even an option on the Superb and mine is a MY11 spec Elegance built end of October 2010.

Ray this topic is covered in other threads. You will see a mixture of replys: if you have the necessary hardware fitted to the car then yes if not then no. Do a search for this topic and I am sure you will see more detailed replies.

Electronic Differential System..... Think it's standard or an option on the Golf GTi and the Octy vRS etc.......

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/technology/braking-and-stability-systems/xds

XDS and HHC both use the ABS system.... The HHC uses it by keeping the brakes engaged when you are facing uphill for upto 2 seconds after you have released the footbrake and releases them once it senses you using the throttle. It also uses the gyros on each wheel to sense if you are facing downhill but have engaged reverse in which case the HHC kicks in again ready for reversing up the hill etc.....

Hmm, I have hill hold on our 2008 Octavia Scout, it is great, I love it!

My Superb doesn't have it but now you've got me thinking WaveyDavey, if it was selectable on VCDS on your 2011 I wonder if it will be on my 2011 manual!

Yes that's right matey. A scan will give the part number of the ABS unit currently on the car.

Living in a city like Sheffield it's probably going to be the most valuable and well used mod I have as it gets used numerous times a day.

This is the one thing I really wish I had spec'd on my car last year and am slightly frustrated the dealer said I didnt need it - turns out the DSG/stop-start combo can be a real PITA on stuff like motorway slip roads etc.

So, is this as simple as a VCDS scan to ID the ABS part and then use the VCDS to enable the HH? I have an offer of help from a fellow member with VCDS but am looking for some info on how to do it.

Thanks

I had it enabled by a fellow member who had already done it on their own car so knew how to do it straight away. I had already found this in case it was needed which may be of some use to you?

It's something I would definitely have specced. It's a very useful feature, especially with a DSG. You can only activate it with VCDS if you have the correct ABS module and there is no guarantee of that, it's not like the usual stuff that is always there just not on. A new module will be quite a bit more than just speccing it now.

I have a module capable of HHC (standard on a 1.8TSI DSG anyway) but turns out I could have XDS as well. Bonus! It's on the Long Coding Helper in the ABS module from memory.

I used these codes to enable it on mine

84;3D;A0;16;19;22;00;00;21;12;05;E4;98;1E;00;41;AB;08 <-- HHC+XDS

Read here as I used Delphi to read them first but then used VCDS to recode mine

HHC is byte 16, bit 0
XDS is byte 17, bit 3

I did it this morning before I left to go hand in my laptop and badge to work (last day as been made redundant). Very easy to do in the end! Am I right in thinking you can tweak the strength?

Not had much chance to fling it around the corners yet!

Hi there, I know this an old post, but wondering if anyone might still be following it.

I got this info using VCDS from my 2014 Superb:

Address 03: ABS Brakes (J104)       Labels:. 1K0-907-379-60EC1F.clb
   Part No SW: 1K0 907 379 BM    HW: 1K0 907 379 BM
   Component: ESP MK60EC1   H46 0164
   Revision: 00H46001
   Coding: 863D6016092600FB610C06E690220092A0000023
   Shop #: WSC 33361 790 00085
   VCID: 7EF9CF84E962D1B6E3-802A

Unfortunately the previous list posted only goes to 'BL' and mine is ABS hardware and software are 'BM'. So wondering if can support me turning on the Hill Hold Control (HHC) that I want?

Thanks anyone.

newer part numbers usually do not have less facilities than older ones so you should be fine.

Xds would not engage on mine despite having the correct parts, however not being able to get any information as to why not I tried again some days later and it accepted the coding.

As I drive like a granddad I have no idea if it actually does anything though.

I am also Gloucestershire and have vcds if you want me to code it, I waited till out of warranty before altering anything on mine.
