I was surprised to hear that my boss runs a CG Motorsport clutch in his rally cars and they have never caused him an issue. I think it maybe just teething issues with the first kits they made.

I can confirm this now goes extremely well! :)

Uploaded and logged 2.2bar map last night, and side-by-side it isn't far off my 2260!

This makes me very happy haha! The clutch hates me, the flywheel hates me but 99% of the time I drive so they aren't struggling anyway. New clutch and flywheel is the next job. I also found my car seems 2 or 3mpg (indicated) better than before, might be coincidence but I saw 55mpg driving to and from Chester earlier I just had to keep my foot up.

In other news, a huge update... new headlight bulbs. I found bulbs that give a nice white light but one went a bit yellow so after a few weeks of that I've finally fitted the new ones

I have to say the mapping by John is the factor here, managed a 450mile trip to scotland and back and still had 1/4 of a tank left. Was showing an indicated 57mpg at one point. Then my mate wanted a ride out in the car so I obliged, the fuel light came on around 20/30mile later haha.

It's all down to the effort John puts into the mapping the increased mpg :)

Mine will show high 50's mpg if you keep your foot up ;)

The mapping is really very good. Smoke levels are great as well. I've got a couple of videos from my GoPro of the smoke and at 1.85 bar there wasn't really any at all. Even at 2.2 bar it's minimal and can't be seen in the mirrors while I'm driving along

Never realised how much I took having a drivers door for granted! Last couple of days the door hasn't been unlocking from inside or outside so I've been looking a right weirdo getting out the passenger side. Bit of research online earlier and it turns out the solution was brute force and punching the inside of the door just under the lock, has freed it up and I'll lubricate it when I go home. Such a pain though, after all the work on the car it had to be the door lock that failed first...

Going for one of Xman750's with a new Sachs DMF believe its a Kevlar disc with an uprated Sachs pressure plate good for 370ft/lb torque, I'm not sure how high my torque is actually going to go with this turbo but I'll have a better idea after the weekend

Are you going on the dyno day?

If your clutch is slipping you won't get an accurate readout of power.

Yeah it is but only a little, I don't abuse the car much so it hasn't got any worse, just get a little slip when boost comes on. I'm still interested to see what happens when it goes on the rolling road with it, once the clutch and exhaust are done properly I'll go back on to get a proper reading

Decided it's time for an update! So last weekend was the rolling road day at Group B Motorsport in Queensferry.

Wasn't sure what to expect given the standard clutch and exhaust after the downpipe but on 1.85 bar map she made 221.2bhp at the flywheel and on 2.2 bar made 255.7bhp around 215bhp at the wheels. This is higher than I expected to be fair but obviously I was pleased with this. The car does feel quite quick now John's upped the boost to 2.2 bar.

I'll upload some pictures when I get a chance. My mate Ollie came down with his camera and snapped a load of photos of the whole rolling road day cause Alex_e3 arranged a feature in Performance VW magazine.

So, as promised, here's a few pictures from the last few weeks as I've not updated properly. Got loads of photos from the rolling road day but here's a few of my favorites.

Pretty cool one of the original 4 colours of vRS lined up, could have just done with a nice SE to complete the line up

Had a few little jobs done on the car as well, had to get my CV boots replaced as they've been slowly falling apart for about a year and a half now, here's the old one and the nice shiny new replacements

and a nice shiny new one...

The place that did my CV boots have got a good Hunter Alignment set-up so I plan on going in to get my alignment done in the next few weeks. I have a bit of wheel wobble going on as well so I'll have my wheels balanced and see if that sorts it out. Got some cupra console bushes on the way as mine aren't too great and I may as well upgrade when replacing

Just had a good read through this, nice car.

I joined on here as I have a MK1 Leon fr which im looking to GTB and not many people on the seat forums discuss diesels. Amazingly there seems to be a lot of people on my doorstep with GTB'd VRS'. Any chance of meeting up sometime and having a ride in your car to see how it feels with the 1756?

Will you be using the 2.2 bar map all the time now?

Where abouts are you? Might be able to arrange something

Not a lot to update at the moment except a nice little Carbon Collective order that I've placed earlier

Had their Platinum Glass a while ago which is very impressive but has eventually faded off the windscreen now. I also was bought a bottle of Oracle for my birthday so I've ordered a load of other stuff to go with it. Planning to do a deep clean this week I'm using satsuma snowfoam, the lusso shampoo, clay the car, de-iron it and coat my wheels with Platinum wheels, re-do the glass sealant. I'm going to hone my skills with a DA polisherand then I've got a paint prep solution (basically just IPA) to use before we give the car a couple of coats of Oracle. Hopefully get some nice beading off it when I'm done

Even bought myself a carbon fiber phone case cause I'm a bit sad like that

Hi mate, Im in Ewloe by St Davids hotel.

Know it very well! Do you ever see me around?

And yes Alex could be a good plan! I take it you saw that new map that John has sent over, I've been slacking a bit with the data-logging

After 7 months of build thread neglect it must be time for an update!

When I last updated, the car was running a GTB1756vk turbo with a standard clutch, flywheel and (not counting the downpipe) exhaust. Progress went very slowly as I saved up to spend a month travelling around Europe. Once that was all paid for, the car has started to get a bit of love again.

First thing was the exhaust. Ever since I fitted the turbo way back in January my car sounded like it had a bad exhaust blow. Naturally, I assumed it was the exhaust. I bought a straight through Piper for a decent price on the forum. Got that for about £120 delivered. It had the 6x4 oval tip and no boxes, it wasn't exactly subtle. Fitted it lying on the road, in the rain, outside my house and it 100% wasn't blowing but the irritating blowing noise was still there.

In short, it was ****. It looked ****, it sounded ****, it fitted ****, and it prompted me to book in quite quick to get the exhaust done ASAP

I wanted a Longlife exhaust but on the day I decided to book something, no Longlife dealer wanted to answer the phone so I decided Powerflow instead. Took it to Demon Tweeks in Wrexham as they profess to be a Powerflow dealer. I went in and looked what the had and we settled on a twin 3" tip and a tiny little back box. I'm fairly sure it's meant to be a centre box but I got it welded in as a back box. The price wasn't too bad so I left it with them (at 8:30am), went back 4 hours later to pick it up and this is what I got:

Some people might think this isn't so bad, but it was way too wonky for my liking. Took it back in and finally left at 5pm. Yeah 8 and a half hours to weld a box and tip on the end a pipe straight. After this, I had a little play with a mint Escort Cossie that was having some work done at Tweeks that same day, wasn't much in it but the Fab had the edge.

Anyway, exhaust now looks like this:
