Fastest car owned

Featured Replies

My Yeti - on paper** at least , though the stated top speed*** isn't much more than the Mk 1 Octy TDi I had before. Both are the only cars I've had over 100 BHP...

**the book figures - not driving on paper!

***not sure how much a remap affects top speed, given that the gearing stays the same.

  • My 100bhp Fantasy Green Fabia in lovely Comfort spec. Awesome.

  • As above...

  • I think we need more guidelines. As technically speaking, i guess a financed vehicle isnt Strictly yours either, nor is anything on borrowed money. Which rules out quite a few people and the cars th

Fastest owned, my Renault 11 Turbo with a 200bhp BBR conversion back in 1988, wast faster than the original 3DR Whale tail Sierra Cosworth.

Fastest driven, New RS6 or S8 or R8 GT or R8 V10 Plus and a McLaren 12c.

one of my first Mini's 285bhp with so much money thrown at it, In hindsight i wish i could have kept it and held on to it long term.  The Brakes were the best i've experienced with Porsche Turbo set up on front, and had a German Mini Challenge Race Series Straight Through Exhaust, the noise was something else.

Moving this to general car chat as doesn't appear to relate to octavia 3. :p

For me, it's my Skoda Fabia.  It continues to be the fastest car I've ever driven the more it evolves too.

Wondered where it had gone, wasn't until someone liked my post, I could find it again... :notme:

Surely has to be a fabia vrs

Don't be daft everybody knows Fabia 2.0 is the fastest car EVER!!

My fully paid for mark 1 vrs sat outside, mapped with a few other bits. I did have a surprisingly nippy Citroën ax GT once upon a time, what a barrel of laughs that was, half of it being plastic no doubt helped the power to weight ratio, just glad I never crashed it.

Hello,

In a straight line?

A rica remapped T6 engined 3.2 volvo saloon kicking out 334 bhp...

Around an A or B road? My 3 litre straight six naturally aspirated BMW...

The first was an awesome motorway car, the second a blast to drive in the countryside...

Both got me points and trouble - which is why I now drive a Greenline 1.6tdi (self management!)

Cheers

It was tongue in cheek

Rather similar to your reply

Hahaha

Fiat Cinquecento Sporting

Would have to be my 99 T plate Subaru Impreza with standard 215 hp. Nice balance of weight, grip and go.

Hello,

I also owned a Skoda Felicia 1.3 with over 60bhp!

I got it to 93 mph once (it was a long straight road and slightly down hill) in Germany on an autobahn of course!

Errrr...my bugatti veyron was quite fast & i'm sure i'm on the correct forums 'cos it is a VAG car after all. 252.97 mph & 0-60 in 2.7 secs. To be honest it was quite fun to tootle about in, well...until the service became due & seeing as i'd just bought a new mansion, the car had to go lol. Oh....& i forgot to tell you all, my real name is Walter Mitty. It's the drink you know!!!

If you really want to go fast and experience thrills, there are plenty of bikes which would trounce most stuff short of supercars.

My old Laverda Mirage 1200.  Beats any of the cars I actually owned.   Was a bit of a beast though.

Being in the motor industry/trade for half my working life, there was nearly always something at work worth testing.

Works rally spec Cooper S when I was an apprentice.

Lotus Elite Turbo when they were launched, I remember that one, an easy 150, but be very careful on lift off as they get skitish.  The place I worked got Mario Andretti's world championship winning car to jazz the place up for the launch.  I got to sit in that.

A few Ferraris. I liked the Dino 246, it was cute, but the Berlinetta boxer was undoubtedly faster.

A few yank muscle cars, no idea on speed.  They were awesome fast off the line.

I currently have the guardianship of a friends JagXF which has been delimited.  No idea on top end - he says he had 170 showing last year en route to Italy.  How much faster will 500+bhp push you?   Anyway, I'll let you know on that one.

He wants me to put a few thousand miles on it while he is out of the country or the battery goes flat, and then it is a pain apparently.

Bikes are where its at IMO.

N you best not tell that guy about trickle chargers then ;) haha.

Awesome. :)

Seeing as it is the only car I have owned, mine would be the same answer. Not as...fantasitcally green as yours though :D

1996 nissan micra 1.0 pretty much all interior stripped out so no weight.

Off the line it beat pretty much everything

1994 Celica St205 GT-4 with a front mount intercooler, upped boost to 1.15 bar, full turbo back decat exhaust, straight intake. When I went to the 'Ring in Easter '08 we hit a GPS verified 160 mph in Belgium-Not the wisest move as the Belgium don't look too kindly on speeding.

I did.  But its like he has a 10 year old computer, then finds it hard to up and download his photo albums.  Just not his thing

400bhp RWD Saph Cossie

E30 BMW with Saph Cosworth conversion 360bhp

EVO 8 MR 320

MNR Vortx with ST170 engine on Hayabusa Throttle Bodies

Nova GTE 300bhp C20let conversion

All very very quick in there own different way had the Evo off the clock which reads 180mph

And the Nova on GPS reading 168mph

Happy days of my youth just stick to my Fabia now and the Motorbike

My slk55 Amg or the old lotus esprit S4s turbo

my diesel Ibiza :-|

Hire cars and white vans must count :-)

Fastest.

Car.

Owned.

Complicated?

I'm still going with my Fantasy Green Fabia.

So the hired white Sprinter I had for a while doesn't count!?

My old MK 2 Fabia VRS was the fastest I've owned. My new 320d with the DTUK box 'Feels' Faster at certain points in the rev age with around 230bp.

But in reality the DSG box makes the Furby quicker - about the only thing that I miss about it! :p

Not actually sure but probably the '99 Renault Megane 1.6 16v Sport I had before the 2004 Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI combi (comfort spec)... though I suspect my Seat Leon 1.2TSI may be just as quick.....

In the early 1990s I actually owned a Volkswagen Corrado G60. 1.8litre supercharged. Probably only 180 bhp or so but felt like virtually full torque from just over idle speed.

Astonishing overtaking capabilities - rather like a big engined bike- just think about the horizon and you were there. Never let go in corners and had brakes and suspension to match. Sold it after a year when it needed new tyres, servicing and re-insuring at a much higher premium.
