Volkswagen Wheels ET33

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I am wondering if fitting Volkswagen 16 inch 6.5J wheels with ET33

on my Yeti TDI 4x4 can or would cause any problems due to

the wheels being pushed out more?

Thanks in advance!

Standard Yeti offset is usually ET45 (there's a great thread on it here), so ET33 wheels will sit out another 12mm.  If you're going for narrower tyres (say 205 vs 225) you'll probably be OK and find the edge of the tyres comes out to about the same place.  Have a play on www.willtheyfit.com to get a visual comparison.

Thank You,

I have checked the dimensions here and with the new sized tyre (215/60/16)

the difference would be another 12mm to the outside, my only concern is if

this difference would mean any strain on the suspension/bearing etc?

The difference isn't really that much.  There are quite a few people over on the Octavia forum who have put 10mm spacers on their cars, and none of them have reported any issues with premature bearing wear as far as I can remember.

Why are you wanting to fit them in particular?

Because I have a limited choice of used wheels where I live,

and buying them new from Skoda is ridiculously expensive.

This is one is in a "like new" condition but has this ET difference.

Im just wondering if it is better to jump the gun or wait for something better.

Have you tried asking tyre dealers ......they sometimes have some 'traded' wheels to sell?.

I might give that a go, try and trade in my 17" Dolomites.

Anyway, thanks for the input guys...fingers crossed!
