Hi guys, we have had our Skoda Fabia silverline 1.4 2003 for around 7 to 8 years now and just recently the stereo has started playing up. whilst driving the radio will just change frequencies. or if the windows are down to a certain amount the radio will play up. whats most annoying is that 2 or 3 minutes into using it there is this really loud screeching sound coming from it which means that i have to turn it off so i'm unable to use it. i dont understand what has caused it. I have been considering putting in an aftermarket stereo thinking that things might change. would these problems still persist? and if there is anything that may need to be fixed would it be worth the cost? considering the value of the car is not that much any more. any help will be appreciated!

It could be your aerial base or the actual aerial.

Sounds like interferance. Does yours play cds without a problem?

My stereo has strong interferance on the am channels

Have you tried taking your stereo out and checking connections

I would get a cheap aftermarket one and fit see what happens youve got nothing to loose

Btw if you go down the base route.its a dead easy job. Theres videos on youtube to help if unsure
