So it's a pretty big possibility I will be lowering my car, my question is, is there anyone who has experience doing this (preferably local to Dorset) who could a: be willing to do it and b: wouldn't mind me hanging around to attempt to help out (seeing as I've never done this before) and if anyone knows what will happen with insurance and warranty, this still isn't 100% confirmed, I still want to do some research into this and it'll probably boil down to what the insurance are going to charge me for it

Very loose rule of thumb on warranty... anything connected to it, is at risk of not being covered.

For a suspension drop, I'd personally consider any bush/bearing/rack/damper/arm to be out of warranty. It wouldn't stop me from doing it on a modern new car.

Prices and flexibility will be highest at a Skoda dealer, some will, but some unlikely to entertain, highest price and not likely to be watchable. To the other extreme a guy with a lift, you'll probably get the lowest price and some grease on your hands.

I'd go for a tuner/performance orientated garage. Really any marque is ok, if pickings in VAG are thin. Also add the question about tracking checks etc.

If your insurance baulks, then consider a swap. But bear in mind a partial year may cost you more, cancellation etc... so definitely start with the insurance co. change quote.

And just to reiterate what has been said a million times on these forums before, only the Greentech/Sport/MonteCarlo's 15mm lowered springs and Eibach 20/25mm springs can be fitted without voiding the warranty. Insurance you have to declare that it's been lowered, although the likes of the Greentech or Eibach's, using fuel economy as a reason will probably prevent excess premium. Just a thought.

I'm hoping to fit Eibach's soon.

Reading on the Rapid forums, Eibach lowering springs used (By Skoda) seem to not invalidate your warranty, so go with what they fit, or have them fit them if available for the Citigo.

Re insurance, yes must be informed, it's a mod from standard set up. Cost me around £40 extra to get mine agreed with insurance (LV) as a mod. That's on my other car (MX-5) check first with your insurance company, not all mainstream companies will allow mods, or will cane you for it because of your age etc.

Also as said 4 wheel alignment is always recommended when altering the cars suspension setup.

Thanks for this, I only just renewed my insurance so we'll have to see what happens, I had no idea you guys were on here, I actually got a quote from you (just pulled it up at £748.13.) but of course now knowing you are on the forums perhaps in the future it can be matched :)

3 actually but only the Clio is insured.

My insurance premium (with the black box in) is £995PY, it's up for renewal next month. I have a funny feeling my insurance company are ripping me off, so I'm looking at switching.

How old?

How old?

I was 18 when I took out the insurance. I'm 20 in September. Online comparison sites seem to show about 600ish for my next quote, so if my insurer don't go close, I'll be leaving them, especially after they messed up with my black box.. :D

Mine is £189 [emoji106][emoji16]

Noo that's just got me as named driver on policy as I've decided we need to keep mileage off it. That's a combo

He he! Sometimes it's great being old. I'm 51 and paying £185.

Mines too expensive, 2 cars £460 I reckon I have been ripped off.

Saga come out the most expensive for me too. :finger:

The only thing that confuses me..........why are you lowering a Citigo?

Partly because I want to and partly because I hope for better economy (it's shocking at the moment 280 mile range from filling up, it used to be 325)

If in doubt flat out [emoji6]
