mirrorlink

Hello,

I saw you are discussing a Smartlink here. Even though I am not from England (Czech republic), I can give you some info about this function. In our country it will be either a) Extra item or B) Added into the package. As of a), this will apply if you only ordered Bolero. As for B), it will already be in the Style Multimedia PLUS.

Smartlink will be in cars from 22 week. I was assured by my seller that my car will include Smartlink, because my manufacturing date is 23 week (ordered in Ferbruary). Also I wanted to include Voice command from new 2016 cataloque and it was possible.

Couple of weeks and we will find out as Skoda customer service are possibly fobbing us off about hardware.

If there's a software update, they'll put it on their website. It may bring other features.

I don't see how something that's basically a computer with a USB port can't just have a software update to allow future features.

Maybe there's a way round and ignoring Skoda?

Mick, thanks for the reply. What i wanted to know is if i can mirror the sygic app from. My iphone 6 plus to the Bolera display. On the website, under skoda approved apps that work while driving sygic is listed. You're telling me that you use the iphone as a screen (mounted) and audio come through Bluetooth? I do this now wtih my current vauxhall corsa. Kind of hopped for an improvement with the Fabia. I just hope somebody finds a way to "Jailbreak" the system on the skoda so we can cancel that annoying black screen " you can't use this app while driving "

Check the MirrorLink official website to see wether your phone is supported or not.

Went on the site crawled through the long page and there was no mention of iPhone 6 Plus or any other iPhone so I am kind of disappointed

I have the iphone 5c and I can play the music from it once plugged in with the USB, the hands free calling works fine too with the BT

Mirrorlink doesn't work with Apple devices.

Is there anyone here who has the answer to whether you can upgrade the hardware to suport smartlink on the bolero? Or if you can buy the new one? Price?

I just connected iPhone with bluetooth, selected music, then changed to google maps, set a destination and the directions talk over the music while muting it slightly!

I'm guessing in Lesmond's case that the iPhone is acting as an iPod would - I'm fully expecting my iPod Classic to work with the Bolero on a wire. Mirrorlink isn't involved. Similarly, the Bluetooth functionality is pretty much OS-independent - most modern phones should be able to talk via Bluetooth to do calls etc, but that isn't the idea of Mirrorlink. That said, I'm not sure how much connection between phone and car I want other than 'make calls, receive calls', but maybe I'm a Luddite. My satnav is a separate Garmin box anyway.

A propos of all that, I spoke to someone at Skoda UK yesterday - he said the existing Bolero isn't being 'abandoned' at all, and that they are working on something called AppConnect (his words, my spelling) to sort all the connection issues; he's expecting that as an in-dealer software upgrade in his Yeti. Whether this is what goes into the wk22 firmware isn't clear, of course. I think until we get confirmation about what the wk22 firmware/hardware is, the early adopters probably need to wait and see... my new SEL Estate is being built this week, so I'm in this boat too...

Thats interesting flatlettuce. Maybe that indicates a new Bolero going into week 22 and a software upgrade for us early adopters... :notme: Hope this is true. I would still rather have the new Bolero though.

According to my manual which followed the car yesterday, smartlink and mirrorlink shall be compatible with Ios 7.x.x or later and that green little monster - sorry, forgot the name- ver 4.x.x or later.

Izzit?

I have sygic nav app it will blue tooth over like the music . My quess is that you will have to use the Six plus screen it's self so I got a Kenu airframe to fix to the air vent . If fits the six plus fine and is the only way to use the sat nav I believe .

Happycatphil I'm changing my name to Andy dufraine only trouble will be if it takes Skoda as long as shawshank they will only sort it out by the time the mk6 comes out[emoji6]

I very much doubt that score that will leave us hanging. I am pretty sure that they will release an update. They must.

Should be getting the car in about 2-3 weeks, transport and all. All ic care about is having gps on the display through Sygic really :)

If the car left factory this last Monday, should be in UK in about 2-3 weeks, no?

This whole thread is about this and no, we don't know.

I love my Fabia but the one thing thats really ticking me off, like the rest of the early adopters, is this crappy MIrrorlink malarky.

After considering buying a Sony Z3 just so I can use the hugely flawed Sygic Sat Nav application I decided that I would take a look at the brochure after reading all of the posts in this thread.

I know I am a little late to the party but I found this in the brochure, they are offering the Amundsen now which includes the satnav built in, its significantly cheaper than buying a new phone (£275), however I am not sure if it will retrofit into the first release Fabia's,

Skoda are being very quiet about it all....

Could you link to the new brochure?

Got.this from skoda official Facebook Page today!

Hi, SmartLink is only available with the new infotainment system, and cannot be additionally installed to in-car device produced before calendar week 22. New systems are not yet available to be bought separately, for further info please contact the dealer. Kind regards ŠKODA

Ouch.

I feel them have fooled me with mirrorlink! It's completely useless. I shall require the new player of my dealer!

Nice, Skoda really are a crock. I wouldn't be to bothered if my phone actually worked on Mirrorlink but it doesn't. Argh.

I was promised when I bought the car that updates were coming, so iPhone and most Anroid should work in a couple of months, not that they should change player

We need to get them to pay for smart link. They need to treat their customers fairly and unfortunately this is not the way to treat them.

I'll happily hand my car back to them to swap the unit over. They can have the day or two of my time while they do it.

However this should have been fitted from week 1.

Agree, we must put pressure on them, this is just bull**** from Skoda!
