Brakes - Upgrade - Special Offer

Featured Replies

we have only just got running water and electricity in these parts :D

ffelan - I know the workings of PM but didn't realise I had one sorry , I dont come on here that often so didn't realise there was one waiting for me , on other sites they have pop ups to let you know , this one doesn't and as my mind reading batteries are running low they didn't pick it up ;);)

I have replied now but if you want any info mail me direct [email protected]

Colin D , if you contact me on the above address I will see if I can help.

With regards to the other brembo kits you are comparing , the difference is that our kits have discs with alloy bells , so I would call the like for like with there kits the same as the Porsche ones they offer , the porsche calipers are Brembo also .

Cheers Ian

Well, almost..It's optional, as is the email alerting you to a PM. Check your control panel for a list of options, I try to make everything optional to suit all needs :D

Will drop you a line aswell :D

Just a reminder if anyone is wanting to get new stoppers from Ian - make sure we do it as a Group Booking - that way we all save loads of bucks.

maybe we should start a new sub-thread and those who want to buy can add their names?? Will that work?

Does the Tavia need a rear brake upgrade? Surely all the braking is done by the fronts.

Steve

That would depend on how often you find yourself heading backwards into a corner...

Comments, Track day types? :D

It's called 'balance' as the RS has Golf GTi front brakes on the rear they're pretty good. But if you get 345mm fronts and Brembo 4 pots, it can alter the percentage of braking front to rear. In the main you'll get away with it. Best to give Ian Godney a call - he'll explain at what point rear brakes are a MUST.

cheers Chris

ps bear in mind it's one thing to improve your brakes by beefing up the fronts, but if you had a prang - what would the assessor/examiner say if it could be proved your braking balance was up the creek?

Believe it or not car manufacturers actually employ scientists and engineers to work this lot out - then we DIYers come along and prat about 'improving' what the makers failed to do - or do we? Yes in the case of the Capri 2.8 (Escort front brakes my foot!!!)

Why not alter the brake bias and back off the ABS with VAG-COM. :D

like I said, some genius at VW/Skoda already set this up - I'd just uprate front and back brakes and leave the electrics.

Except the Jabba infringement that is!!!

That's why it is important to detail all the mods done to a car to your insurance co.

My last car had 335mm Godspeed discs c/w 4 pot calipers up front and standard discs and pads at the rear. I never felt the back end go light under braking and it's weight is about the same as the vRS. That was on track as well.

Steve

I have the AP's + 335 discs on the front from Ian & the back definately wanders a bit when you really stand on the brakes so rear upgrades will be required.

Having said that they are a fantastic improvement over the Standard brakes.

I would also add I have used Ian before for my Subaru brakes. His knowledge together with value for money means I personally would go no where else.

But please remember folks Ian will do us a deal if we have a group booking of 5 or more sets!!!

What is the wheel spoke to hub clearance you need with Ians brakes?

the regular Brembo GT kit needs 50mm which is a lot compared to stock wheels...

Whats the magic number?

Bill

Bill, Ian makes his own bells and mounts. By doing so he can move the rotor position inboard and therefore needs less clearance. IIRC its 40mm.
