Car respray

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a mk2 fabia as some of you are aware.

I'm just wondering if any of you know where and roughly how much I'm looking at a full respray. Looking at getting it back up to showroom condition and also need a crack filling or plastic welding

Cheers

Anywhere from £1500 to £3000 I reckon depending on where you go, paint used and colour change etc

Including prep it's £3000-£3750 around here I think

I would say you won't see change from 3k for a professional job

At least.  I had two panels repainted this week and simple maths suggests that it would be past £3k for the whole car and that was with very little trim to remove.  Also, do you want a glass out respray or a simple blow over with everything intact?  The place I used had an Austin Healey 100s in for a full restoration.  The owner had shipped the car over from Sweden to our local specialist and he was looking at more than double the £3k for his car to be resprayed.  Mind you, it is worth more than £500k when it's all put back together so the £6k for the respray is a fraction of the overall rebuild cost.

Would your car be worth any more if you spent a huge amount of money on it?  Doubtful really as it's not super rare but if you're happy to spend money on the car then go for it.  My mate spent £4.5k on having his ITR resprayed last year as he's keeping it for the foreseeable future.  It's not worth much more than any other Integra but it makes him happy so that's all that counts.

Surely if you are spending on it you will be wanting better than Showroom Condition.

? What is wrong with the original paint on the car, not the Green Paint?

Why not just get front bumper and bonnet painted and then get the rest of the car machine polished?

Should look almost new then

I thought it was roughly 200 pound a panel, i had bonnet front bumber rear nearside door and boot panel sprayed cost 550.00 last year. Had to go into both front wings and rear quarter.

I paid £2k to have my Skyline done a few years back , £3k would probably see the same level of job done now , couldnt remove front and rear glass as you couldnt buy new rubbers but everything that could be taken off was

Show winning finish

No long gone , had an Evo 6, r34 Skyline, 350z and 370z since ;)

Quite a line up there.  What was the Evo like?

Ballistic , but fragile . I taught myself to map and wound it up to 400hp with 400ft lbs. Never driven anything like it on a B road, outrageously capable and never felt like it was anywhere near the limits , bit it kept breaking and became tiresome

I'd never considered them as fragile but I guess they are highly strung for a 2 litre.

Not just engine but clutch , gearbox, ayc etc

Skylines a cracking colour was it original .

Ahhh no it was originally red

Keep them standard and they will be fine

My old boy had a evo 4 brand new and sold it at 80k

I think he put a helix clutch in it and other than that it was faultless

Evo 4 suffers crank walk even standard , he was lucky

I won't be getting rid of the fabia as ive already spent so much and it's for personal pride of it looking shiney . A little but on my back left door and front bumper has a little crack in it. The plasti dip will be coming off and it's going back to black and white I just fancied a change for a while.

As said above then:

What about a professional valet machine polish and detail? Should leave it looking mint, and at least reduce the crack that needs filling. Cost you a damn sight less than a full respray too.

It will depend on where you are but the prices above sound about right.

a decent repaint to tidy a car up will be a few hundred per panel.

But a full top quality repaint will be £3-4000 as there will be lots of hours of stripping it down and careful prep work.
