  • Looking mint as you say Chris, delighted for you :-) I put my colour coded grill on today and still might get the original grill black wrapped for swaps.

  • Im guessing you were using tapatalk?   Had some issues with that recently.   If you want, post details on here now and I can hide these previous posts

  • Glad you finally have some content Eight year cam-belt change?? Is this the first one it's had? I reckon you'll decide it will need lowering once you put the spiders on

Proper pamper today before it gets the last of its transformation with the wheels and lowering.

Every part of the car cleaned incl all door shuts, engine bay, inside tailgate and glass.

It looks like a new car now.

Looking very clean what cleaning detailing products do you use

Is the chrome grill staying chrome ??

No it's getting wrapped black or grey when I get a chance.

Meguairs gold shampoo, super resin polish, autoglym HD wax and OCD snow foam and alloy cleaner.

Just texted the guy that's wrapping the grill yesterday so I can drop it off when I remove it.

Cars back from garage with an MOT with no advisories.

Full service with brake fluid and fuel filter changed and the lowered suspension and all new components. Also the new Brembo rear brakes and upgraded headlight bulbs.

Kept all the original struts and springs to stay with the car for its new owner eventually.

Ordered new front brake shields or backing plates from Skoda and I will get the garage to pop them on when it goes in next week for its final tracking after I put the Spiders on.

Tomorrow I will take the horrible winter steelies off and put the refurbed Spiders on but also clean out and wax all the arches and clean off the calipers.

New pics tomorrow hopefully looking great.

Lots of progress looking forward to pics

Cheers Chris, I am dying to see it with its new boots on and see how it sits.

The suspension will still need to settle a wee bit as well.

Thinking about spraying the brake shields when they come but can't think what colour will look decent ??

My springs are going on on sat too [emoji4] and polish and lacquer is my 2pence

Good hope it sits at the height u want it at :-)

Wheels on eventually and they look decent.

Only lowered it by -25mm so it still sits too high really but I'm in my 40's and the roads and speed bumps round my area are shocking. It still needs to settle down a bit after having it jacked up.

Wow looks fantastic and really clean arches I've got -35mm hope it looks ok and no too low

-35mm will be better, the springs will still settle down a bit on mine but if it wasn't my daily I would have had it lower but I wanted a compromise between looks and comfort.

Wheels look great but 1 tyre was flat !! Had to call mobile guy out and the powder coasters had left a small bit off masking tape right at the bead so it never got a proper seal !!!!

I hope so as its my daily aswell with a bambino don't want her spine popping out ha ha and at least it was an easy fix

I suppose coil overs would have been the answer and adjust as I wanted but I have never liked them on my Mk1 Golfs so that's why I chose suspension kit :-/

So I did my springs and I had to get the tape out to see the difference [emoji20] but hay ho both fronts had snapped anyway

And these are only cheap springs might need coils for any more drop post-123262-1430663017645_thumb.jpg oh and replaced top mounts yay post-123262-14306630741632_thumb.jpg

Both same not before and after

The height looks very similar to mine :-)

To get it sitting perfect it would need to be coilies as it needs to stop at least another 25mm on both our cars IMO.

As I said though I need it to be comfortable for my daily commute through 6 lots of big speed bumps.

I do agree mine are -35mm too ha cut the top coil off always an idea [emoji6] and even my very cheap springs have improved the body roll and it's less crashy

But then again I had two broken spring [emoji23]
