Surely this place cannot just be about asking you or any one for advice though, can it? That is a major part of this part of the forum, but there are people on here who like to test products and talk about different techniques. I cannot see why those people should be excluded from this forum. If members wish to go straight to you then that is entirely their choice. I find this whole direction very bizarre. But like you I welcome the scrutiny to the forum, and if we can make it better for certain members who maybe lack the confidence to ask a question to everyone then why not do it.

No arguments here Chris at all. All I'm asking is that if you claim to that there are loads of people that now dislike this forum you have to substantiate it, or ask them to nip along and say why they dislike it. Otherwise there is no way forward for improvement. Everyones comments are always welcome.

I have no idea what has happened between you and Ste, but he chooses to block you, I would imagine, to save argument. You cannot get on with everyone and it is a perfectly acceptable way to deal with a clash of personality.

No Neil..You misunderstand

Nobody should be excluded from the Forum

Samuir ignores me and therefore this has an affect on the Section and answers/replies

Its up to those that prefer to PM and ask for advice to come forward into this discussion and explain. Not I

Sounds like a plan. If you could maybe PM them to say there is an opportunity to air their views then that would be perfect. Or we can ju wait for them to come forward. We could maybe start a fresh thread to allow people to bring this thread back on topic.

a sharing of views for the good of the forum is worthwhile, remember though that views are personal and we differ in perception and how we react.

there is a lot of back slapping, i noticed that.  generally i fnd it a nice trait as it seems everyones efforts, large or small, are recognised.  As a newbie to proper waxing and to this place i found comments i got very encouraging and welcoming.  however i think with the regulars there is a small risk of the back slapping making the place feel cliquey.  I'd say carry on, but try and ensure eveeryones efforts are congratulated equally well.  i think Chris is great at this, but genrally Hunty and others too.

I had noticed Chris ask a few questions and not get replies (nipponshine thread comes to mind) but i'd put it down to the questioned simply missing the question, there are some busy threads or busy people.  if its more then thats a shame, but i hope one or 2 people dont 'own' this forum and push oyhers away, please stay Chris

btw, i've not pm'ed chris for advice, but only because i feel this place is welcoming, not just chris.  That said....chris almost seems like a friendly gatekeeper, often the first, sometimes the only, person to respond.  keep it up chris.

Thanks Neil I'm not going away..LOL

Nor am I a Gatekeeper..just someone who loves my hobby and now part time job and wants to see a friendly place where we all comment positively to ALL our posts

Maybe the ball is well and truly in the court of Steve to either respond or as, will probably be the case, keep on ignoring me

If that is the case, then I fear the Forum section will continue to be a three man show

Thanks for the post Neil. That is really constructive!! Could you pop it in the new thread " Participation Views" as it should be a benchmark on what that thread is about.

Well - after work yesterday - the BMW got a final wash and wax detail before going to its new home.

One area i had not made time to address was the engine bay.

This was foamed and APC'd then dressed with 303 Protectant spray.

Pics below...

Well - my mate was happy with the BMW detail and its now SOLD.....  Today I was down at Bradford Audi to assist him on the PDI of the new RS3.

Reg number chosen and should be ready for collection tomorrow and detailing work to commence over the weekend...

Hey, with regards to cleaning an engine bay, is there any tips that you would give, I am guessing don't use a Jetwash! Just looking at that I pick my new car up on Saturday and considering it is also a BMW I fancy trying to get a similar look to the pictures above,

Thanks

In this instance - the car was brought in very dirty under the bonnet, but with engine warm and left running.

It was foamed, left to soak for 5 mins or so and then rinsed with a jet wash - but rinsed on low pressure.

Not normally a process I use on my car I must admit.....

The really bad areas were then APC'd and wiped down with microfibres.

The satin finish and protection was provided by a final wipedown with 303 protectant.

Cool thanks, I will give it a go on Sunday and see how it comes out. Once I have woken up again though-picking car up from Aberdeen and I live in Hampshire!

It's a great colour, and I think he has spec'd the options on it just right.

The sound with the sports exhaust option is absolutely astounding.

It sounds like there is a Lamborghini in there trying to escape.

...the telesales team came into the garage and complained about the noise! oops!!! :giggle:

A cracking day yesterday to get out and tidy up SWMBO's car. 3 weeks worth of crap on there....

Finished off Ed Turners Snowfoam which impressed again with superb cleaning ability.

Also got out the underbody lance and cleared out the arches and underside areas.

Tyres finished with Frost Onyx which continues to impress.

Then washed and topped with a recent purchase in the AD Sale - Project 32.
