fun roads

Featured Replies

I'd just Like to say that the A 41 between Albright on (M54) and Chester is a lot more fun in the vrs than the M6, A51.  At around midnight at least.

I may have a new regular route.

It made me think, what are your favourite roads?

A68, its like a roller coaster in places, its just as good in a car as on a bike.

Mine are the ones in the Alps, not perfect for the regular commute home I must admit :D

A68 is great I agree, further south is the road past Kielder water, from there to Longtown through Newcastleton is great, I had a 60 plate BMW series airborn across there driving one handed whilst enjoying my ice cream, a lot of roads around the Cheviots are good, going from the A697 towards Kelso, B6352 through Yetholm is a great road too.

A537 Buxton to Macclesfield "Cat n Fiddle" can be fun in good conditions but not as good since they put up the average speed cameras!  :(

This 2.9km of road outside of Hereford is a real (short) blast since it has been resurfaced.

Short cut avoiding Hereford if travelling from Holme Lacy towards Hay on Wye direction.

I quite enjoy the B4362 right past the house :)

I used to drive this section of road twice daily, it was great fun in a tuned classic mini. A623 between Baslow and Sparrowpit.

It is now 50mph though.

Oh yes. There is a bit where it drops down into a little gully and curves back up and out (going away from Sparrowpit) that always made me grin in my old mini (not tuned).

I tend to do a nice circuit Macclesfield, Whaley bridge, Buxton, leek, Congleton, back to Macclesfield. Lovely roads there. Usually on 2 wheels but looking forward to trying out the vrs on them also

I would have thought that one of the most dangerous roads would be where someone took off whilst driving a BMW one handed eating an icecream.

:pI do enjoy that A41!   Had a long stretch matching speeds with a 15 plate A5.Initially i was pressing on and left him then he returned and we stuck together, then i let him lead and i followed.  Not racing, just fun making progres together. Must have sounded nice to the cars we passed, 2 x2.0 tsi/tfsi

. (Think it was the 2.0.  We matched acceleration very very closely)

He gave me a single flick of his hazards as we went slowly through one village at the correct speed, then turned off. i guess it was a 'bye bye'

Enjoyed that, much better than the m6....long may it be closed in stretches for road works!

As already mentioned, the Forest of Dean, around Herefordshire and I'll add to the mix lots and lots of roads in and around the Cotswold's.

Takes me back to my old Road Rallying days  .

Not in this weather thought: D
