  • Jason Statham impresses me with his high kicks. He trained originally as a dancer apparently.   What do you make of this? Fascinating I thought:

  • Holdens are common around here.

Much prefer the M135i.

Thanks Amanda!

Thanks Amanda!

Don't tell certain people in the other thread that :D

I've been trying to find a picture of the LWB version we had. It was a one off, that was built for TWR but I think his business was financially troubled at the time so we ended up with it. It was a lovely metallic green.

Looks like we were asking £40K for it about 12 years ago! Not cheap.

The Holdens sounded better outside than inside :( They certainly didn't sound as good as  the Corvette with the same engine.

I do love the Maloo, especially in a daft bright colour. they are rather long though :D

M135i or a new VXR8? Easy choice for me.

Was driven around Elvington by PC Scothern of S Yorks Police Interceptors in a type of Holden (VXR8)

Incredibly quick car!!

Blows away an R-36 Alan...LOL

We had a purple metaflake C5 convertible with yellow leather interior once. It had been a pace car for some sort of Nascar type thing :D It was horrendous, but in a good way.

I can imagine the Chevrolet would be able to get the better sound, yes the Maloo is a rather large car, seeing it parked in the local Sainsburys did make me chuckle a bit at the amount sticking out of the parking space,

Always loved the Monaro as well, going in a Monaro VXR was certainly an awesome experience.

Not having driven either of them couldn't judge on which one I would choose out of the BMW and the Vauxhall, purely on engine noise I would go for the VXR8 as I like V8's :)

I think the V8 beats the Straight 6 for sound too, especially a proper American V8 :) I like the BMW engine as there isn't anything else comparable in it's class, although I do like a friends TT RS (5 cylinders) and I still have a soft spot for the Subarus :) (even with all the pillocks who drive round with drain pipes for exhausts)

In terms of driving I prefer the BMW as it's more Wieldy, although I think the visiting the scenery the hard way is more likely in the BMW. The Holdens I drove were quite friendly in that sense

The straight six is a cracking engine, had very briefly a E39 530i sport and when I got the chance to drive that was fantastic.

V8's just have that sound about them, friend is just finishing putting a 3.5 V8 in his Capri, having lots of fun with it but its running a straight through pipe with a Cherry bomb exhaust so has a good sound.

Again Subarus can take them or leave them, never been a big fan of the Impreza but love the spec b legacy, We aren't the TT RS owning stage yet (got that to look forward to.)

I do keep looking at going back to a BMW straight six but one with a manual box.

Just in case fabdavrav you come over here, pease let me say, The golf GT is rubbish compared to any BMW even a rubbish BMW and even one that doesn't work and even one that is rubbisher that a rubbishy car. I look forward to your comments :)

Agree, the beemer is the more sensible choice, it's undoubtedly the better to drive, but nowhere near as much fun. EVO has a good head to head with the M5, includes the RS7, the XFR, VXR8, and something else. The audi was the fastest, but the most boring. The vauxhall and jag the most "fun" and although the M5 came out on top, the vauxhall is almost half the price of the others. That makes it a vrs like bargain, or at least when the octy was much cheaper.

I gather the gearbox on the latest M lites is improved. My old 123D had a nice gearbox, but you couldn't hurry it. The guy that has the RS previously had a TTS version and we did a side by side comparison on acceleration. He in his car and me in my 3.0tdi Merc. nothing in it until very high speeds and then I just started to edge it (my car had only done about 5,000 miles too). I was pleased with my Merc, he wasn't so pleased with his TTS. Hence the RS. It is a very nice car, although I don't think it seems to be all that much fun to throw about

I couldn't afford to run a Holden or equivalent  as a main car :( So I will have to do with something just as quick (if not quicker) in the real world and a bit more economical. It's hardly slumming it :D

Still one day, I hope to get my Corvette (or possibly Mustang)

The E39 had the reverse problem, so worth more then the car to repair really.

I would only have a manual box unless the autobox was under a warranty, did almost go and look at E90 330i sport tourer with the six speed box.

reading the above comment I would still prefer an older muscle car then a modern one, at a car show today there was a very nice El Camino for sale.

When I was younger I didn't really get American cars, then I got a bit older and thought they perhaps weren't so bad. Then I sold them and thought, yes they really are that bad, but utterly brilliant in other ways, so much so, I started to love them :)

I know they are ridiculous over the top and guzzle fuel, but generally speaking they are just fantastic, had a Dodge Ram 4.0 v6 briefly and absolutely loved, almost killed me financially but for something that made me smile just by turning a key! Still 27 so hoping by the time I have paid off mortgage on house etc. I can look at getting one as a second car to enjoy at the weekends.

The cheapest daft American thing we sold was the F150 Lightning. Epic in every sense!!! Iirc 380bhp, 450lb/ft, live rear axel and a half ton load bed. 0-60 was quoted at 5.4 seconds, at least that's figure we quoted :D

Brilliant, again quick pickups are awesome, although I am a Dodge Man at heart so prefer the Dodge Ram SRT-10. Maddest thing I have seen is a VW splitty pickup with a Dodge Viper engine in.

Amanda,

You now have the broader canvas you desired. ENJOY!

I spun the Harley version of the Lightning outside the Dealership (not totally my fault.......cough cough) This is the very vehicle
