Thats cos' once you've got one, no-one would want to sell it :)

Toledois good value but for me personally having to deal with croyde motors again ruled a Toledo out

Really?   I got mine from croyde motors, haven't had much experience with their aftercare yet but Roy the salesman seemed very nice, couldn't do enough for me (I know that's often the case when you're spending money, before you say it).

What issue did you have with them?

It is often the case that the initial sales process is good (Mine was as well with Marlborough), but everything after that goes to pot (as it did with the disgusting after sales service from Marlborough).

As an aside, while I don't have a glass roof, it was nice and warm today at lunchtime when I took my staff out for lunch, so had the aircon cranked up to Max cold - very effective if quite noisy, but I can live with that - effective aircon is more important than quiet aircon.

I must admit the Rapid aircon is very good. Having said that I haven't had a Skoda with poor aircon yet.

Why use only one dealer?  I had to play 3 big dealer groups against each other until the price got to something I could afford.  Eventually had to go 44 miles to collect it, but I've never been back - there is a dealer half as far away for servicing.

I bought a Leon from them and they were an absolute shower

1. Had to give my car straight away in par ex (8 month old mini)while I waited for the factory order didn't really mind that as Roy was giving me a Ibiza courtesy car for duration. I took car in and courtesy car wasn't back yet so he gave me an old car for the day .

I ended up with a succession of battered old part ex cars for the 3 months it took for my car to arrive which I found out we're not insured as he had assured me they were !

2. My car arrived and the morons sold it to someone else so I had to wait for another

3. Didn't do a PDI got exactly one mile from dealer and had to take it back with faulty passenger seat alarm. Couldn't fix it so I had to leave it there and get a lift home. Picked it up next day "all sorted" got mile down road did it again spent numerous days in dealer trying to fix it never did.

4. Took for first service they collected car from work and delivered back to me all good asked how to pay they said just pay when passing which was nice even redeamed there past failure a little .

Paid the same day as service via credit card on way home couldn't give me invoice as they were closing but I got payment receipt.

A couple of weeks later get a phone call asking me to pay for service?

I went over and showed them my receipt Roy apologised and said clerical error .

Next week I get more calls and then a letter so again I go back Roy assures me its a mistake not to worry he knows I've paid .

Then next few months I get more letters and calls from them and debt collectors

5. Wrecked a friends Leon and wiped there hands of it seat UK had to sort it out

I'd never use them again

Where I live the next 2 nearest are both the same group and were not very good when I tried to buy Ibiza cupra and 100 or 150 mile round trip

Didn't try Bristol or Wales

Also tried seat Wolverhampton who were a shower so I wouldn't even consider seat again which is a shame as I do like there cars

I buy a new car every six months or so and the only genuinely good service I've had during and after sales is Westerly bmw

Not had any experience of Skoda after sales yet but purchasing my citigo and Spaceback was ok from barnstaple skoda

:|  ookay well if that was your experience I don't blame you.

Don't know what to say really, had my Toledo from Croyde 2 weeks today.   I suppose I'd just better hope my experience is better than yours.   Everything went reasonably well for me only thing I was disappointed about was they only gave me under 1/4 tank of fuel when I'd requested a full tank and he said "he'd sort something out" but hey ho, it was a bargain so I'm not complaining too much about £40 of fuel.

My friend has been waiting 2 months for his new Ibiza to turn up, he's the one that dragged me to SEAT in the first place, he's hoping to get it in the next couple of days so fingers crossed he doesn't experience any problems either.   My servicing is supposed to be free for 3 years so shouldn't experience any problems there I hope.

Mind if I ask whereabouts you are?   I'm in Bideford.

I'm in ilfracombe mate I'd definately get it serviced in exeter unless marshal/silver street can do it?

Thanks for the heads up.   I'll stick with them for the moment until they give me reason not to, but it's always good to hear other people's feedback.   Sounds like you've had a bad experience though :(.

Main thing is are you enjoying the car!?

It should be nicer - 3 grand nicer!!

- cheapest pre regs on autotrader today

Rapid Spaceback £9990

Toyota Auris         £13095

I certainly couldn't have found another 3k when I bought mine

Try comparing the Rapid with something that costs remotely similar money ;)

Toyota will only sell you an Aygo or IQ (yuk) for Rapid prices.

Cough cough, I beg to differ gentlemen,

C Hurst in Belfast had 2no Nov '14 reg Auris at £11,448.00, del miles only thereon but basic spec however.

The 2nd hand,13,000 or 17,000 mile and  early '14 Spaceback in Mervyn Stewart was £9,999.00, hey say 10k.

I imagine one could easily attribute the £1,500 difference to the greater age and miles on the Spaceback.

Wor Son was however very tempted by the pre-reg Fabia's with the 75bhp 1.0 litre engine in SE trim.

for 5,000 city miles per year perfectly adequate I suppose.

Were they 11 or 11.5k?

He is still tempted by the Hyundai i20 in Premium spec with the 1.25 /84bhp  petrol, at just over £12,000, price quoted on a tyre kicking visit only, so some room for manouver.

Edit,

Not ruling out a Skoda,

BUT in our direct family's recent experience, the Toyota ownership experience is easily worth and extra £1,500 over say ten years, for what is still, subjectively perhaps, a better finished engineered and more reliable car.

Compared to our Skoda(as yet unresolved, and I am seeing a Barrister next week) ownership experiences that is.

The Suzuki Swift Sport I was going to get before the Rapid was fully loaded as standard for 12K brand new.

Ah so many regrets now.

funny enough I appear to prefer the visual appeal of the Spaceback.

Kinda reminds me of British Leylands Glory days, the Allerago was it/ think I recall?

(II) I hasten to add, exterior visual appeal only, of the spaceback, I am liking.

I thought a bit Austin Maestro looking [emoji57]

Completely agree - especially as my mum had two Meastros, so we know them well. The visual similarities with the Spaceback are substantial.
