Buying Advice for a 2.0l Diesel VRS

Featured Replies

Once a DPF is gutted there is no returning it to proper service.

Costs for DPF's are coming down, there are also aftermarket ones available now for between £300-£400 (compared to Skoda @ £1,100 inc. fitting) but there have been quite a few complaints of them being pretty poor quality and not being particularly effective or lasting for very long.

Some people remove the DPF in it's entirety and fit a second hand one that has already been professionally gutted, thus having the original good DPF ready to go back on if required. There are a few listings on eBay for pre-gutted DPF's but remember the map is required too to code out the sensors and this is where it is worth paying for a proper job.

Straight-through pipes are an alternative but this is almost a 100% MOT failure as it is obvious to the MOT tester that the DPF is absent.

Buying advice for a 2.0pd vrs it's turned into a dpf discussion!! All good relevant points i suppose. I've learned removal is not reversable.
