I don't know where you are getting that price from, last time I looked (about a week ago) they were about £39  for the kit (admitting not fitted)

But its only a 1hr of a job

That's not for HEADLIGHTS  :P

Sorry not sure your comment ! The price I quoted is for HID kit for the lamps for a Fabia,(admitting not the whole headlight fitting, but the OP said after market

OP said aftermarket headlights not aftermarket bulbs though

There's some on ebay for £139 for a pair, yes a PAIR of DEPO Xenon headlights.

Trouble is you'll need to move abroad to use them as they're for LHD :D

If they can do that price for LHD lights then why not for RHD. A question I asked only a couple of months back

Try messaging the seller to see if they would do another group buy. GB's have got the price of these down to £180 a pair! Worth a try...

Yep - Have shown where you might have misread. :)

why change the whole fitting when the lamp will do the job at a fraction of the price

Because the lamp doesn't do the job of being a projector headlamp.  It's designed for halogen bulbs so doesn't work correctly / legally / safely with HID light kits. :)

No they are not designed for halogen bulbs as you call them, they are a  high intensity discharge lamp, they work a lot better than halogen lamps

they are legal and cannot see why thy are unsafe.

I have fitted the kits to numerous vehicles and never had a problem, the first kit fitted was over ten years ago and the lamps are still ok

They need to have correct beam patterns, self levelling and washers. Also they blind people coming other way

I see another one who has been brain washed !

I have tried your "safe" method and after being flashed lots of times, seeing how bad the beam was, and ultimately trying them on an MOT test rig and told they will fail - ditched them.

Another one who is in the trade and knows regulations.

Even if they were legal and didn't blind people... Xenon units look much better!

show off!

;) :P

You don't need to have self leveling or washers, but if self leveling or washers are present they must work for the MOT. You can run HIDs in Depo projector units on the Fabia if you must have HIDs.

I run HIDs in the Celica's projector dipped beams as do many owners, and don't have any issues come MOT time. Nor have I ever been flashed. To be honest, the 35w units I run are hardly noticeably brighter compared to nightbreakers.

Running HIDs in reflectors is just plain retarded though as the light reflects everywhere as the bulbs do not emit light in the correct pattern. They should not pass the MOT due to the beam pattern.

Doesn't wingmirrorman do projector headlights for the fabia? I was planning to get my

Mine from him. At the moment using MTEC super whites 100w.
