That's a nice pair you have there, I like the RnineT, they are bringing out some great versions of it to.

I think that someone at BMW must be on the wacky baccy as they have moved from the staid to the brilliant on their new range of bikes!

Thanks Prykey,

They have indeed!! I'm a huge BMW bike fan and love the boxer engine. The nineT is brilliant to ride, i added the clip ons as one of the first bits of fettling and can't understand why it wasn't a standard fit or optional extra as they look so much better than the original bars. I was thinking of giving her a paint job but i'm holding off on that as i believe there is a rather special one off planned for next year and if that happens i'll be chopping this one in... Although now i've just bought the vRS that idea may have to go on hold...

  • this is my first 'big' bike and I'm loving it!! Passed my test about 4 weeks ago but only picked this up a week or so ago   It's a 99' SRAD so it's pretty old but in fairly good condition for its ag

  • Mine - made a few changes since this picture it's now got short Asv levers and mirror blanking plates. Did around 100 miles last year :/

  • Just finished and ready for a proper shake down run today I hope.   Black not common on Ariels but it is easy to paint each bit with what you have and have it match.

Welcome!

Very nice indeed!

You'll fit in just fine.

LittleAde has a GS (hasn't got the GSA because the normal GS is too big for him really :D), Prykey has a HD and Gyp has an R1200R (i think thats what it is? Don't think its the RnineT anyway? Happy to be corrected!)

How are you finding the GSA? Do you get off on many big trips with it?

Hi there,

Love the GSA and couldn't see myself without one, huge improvement over the 1150 in every respect. I try and do one big (ish) trip every year if i can. Back in 2014 4 of us rode to North Africa (Well, Morocco but North Africa sounds better and is technically true :D ). Last year the wife and i took the 1150 down to Lake Como for a few weeks break which was brilliant and this year in Sep we took the new GSA cross Europe to Slovakia taking in France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and Belgium.. Had a blast but we put too much pressure on ourselves. We were only away for 12 days and 5 of those we spent with family in Slovakia. Covered a total of 3k miles in 7 days riding which was too much really...

Brill. A GS being used how its supposed to be.

My dad did a very similar trip to that last one you mentioned on his GSA last year too!

They had a couple of niggling problems in Czech mind. Girls trying to take one of the lads aside.. and one got pulled up on the motorway, thought it was a policeman until they asked for his watch and money!

Looking at the GS reminded me of this clip I saw recently. Wish we had roads that good here. Hopefully I've copied this correctly.

Great clip and shows why I love the GS so much, brilliant road bikes and very capable off road. Pretty much do anything and go any where on them - quickly :D

Here's a few pics from our trip to Morocco a few years back...

Brilliant trip with some very scary moments...

Ace!

The 1150GS is so much more robust than the 1200 isnt it!

Dad had one.. it was solid and robust. Loved it.

A taxi driver in Amsterdam wrote that one off though.

I am indeed a fellow T****r... :D  from U****r...

In some respects it is, however it's also a lot heavier and an absolute bitch to pick up which i did.....lot's on that trip!!!

There is also no comparison in terms of performance, handling or looks between the old more agricultural 1150 and the new 1200 IMHO...

Agreed. Abit like the Range Rover of bikes isnt it. Used to have off road ability, it was solid and robust.

Now its more plasticy and not something youd want to take off road so much... but faster and better on the road.

Agricultural and the GS go together in alot of respects mind :D :D.

Been doing a bit of fettling, but today I actually insured it and took it for a ride.

Very nice!

How are you finding the transition to a twin after all those IL4's?

I've not long sold a Gen 2 Tuono. Stonking engine isnt it...

I'm loving it , the zx10r was only fun when you were pinning it and that's only going to end badly  !! the twins great had her set up by griff at Aprilia performance and shes geared on his recommendations so really useable !

Top man isnt he, Griff.

I used him aswel and he's ace. Just knows it all off the top of his head doesn't he :D. He's got a good group on Facebook too, and questions n that are answered so quickly its ace.

He fitted a front sprocket on mine with one less tooth. Epic fun.

Ah ZX10's are lovely, but tbh i've no desire to have one on the road tbh :D.

Is that the Cray reservoir on the road up towards Senneybridge?

its brecon

Started biking at 16, sold my last bike two years ago due to lack of use with a young family. Not sure when or if I will ever get back on a bike. Here are some of my old bikes

I do occasionally miss the bikes, I think I mainly miss the ownership and tinkering with them.

Mike, the itch of not having a bike only gets stronger, I had a long break from bikes but couldn't contain the urge for another.

Never say never Mike. I thought I'd packed it in 8 years ago but the kids have now grown up, I haven't and now have another bike to play on.

For me it was justifying the cost, I live too close to work to use every day, was going out when the weather was nice with my mates, was doing less than 1k a year. Ended up selling the bikes to pay for home improvements and a holiday. Every time I save up some cash the house swallows it. I'm sure I'll get back on a bike one day, will probably be a cruiser as I've had my fair share of balls out doing silly speeds.

I got my 1st large bike back in March after a 5-year lay off (I did buy a 125cc Twist and Go Scooter to keep my NCB going) I've done over 4k on that including a trip to European Bike Week in Austria, enjoying it so much I picked up another bike in September and although that hasn't done many miles so far I'm looking forward to using them both this year :)

You don't have to spend a fortune on a bike to enjoy riding.

My mate has never spent more than £1000 on any bike he's had and okay they dont look amazing, but he has had no end of fun over the years on them. Just nice to get out on 2 wheels.

you're not wrong there my current bike cost me only me a tiny bit over £1000 and while old is in great condition... still looks amazing. just need to search around for the right bike
