Ade gets all his gear VAT free from Mothercare.  If you are man size like most normal folk that option isn't open to us.

I'm going to thump your shins when I see you.......

  • this is my first 'big' bike and I'm loving it!! Passed my test about 4 weeks ago but only picked this up a week or so ago   It's a 99' SRAD so it's pretty old but in fairly good condition for its ag

  • Mine - made a few changes since this picture it's now got short Asv levers and mirror blanking plates. Did around 100 miles last year :/

  • Just finished and ready for a proper shake down run today I hope.   Black not common on Ariels but it is easy to paint each bit with what you have and have it match.

Just so you know Bri I have enticed Ade, Oli and Madrunner to Lincoln on Friday night for a quiet drink!  Might be a good night to stay in or you could come and join us and pick on Shorty with us!

Enticed you say cakey ? More like you couldn't be ar*ed to drive any further for a meet you lazy sod.....

Too right though, more drinkers welcome !!!! We are the only ones to actually organise and attend briski biker meets anyway.

Some say in that part of the world you need a passport to get out of the county......

Well it's arrived

Now I know why people don't use centre stands for big bikes, some weight training might be on the cards :(

Bloody gorgeous machine though

Great getting a new bike isn't it? there's loads of vids on youtube Bri on using the correct technique if you're not sure what to do - I use the centre stand on my GS all the time when putting it away in the garage with my constand dolly which makes it more difficult to do, but still manage ok. Granted it's not as heavy as your Honda, but I'm not exactly mr universe as you know!

It's all in the technique mate. Let your body weight do the work and its surprisingly easy.

Pleased with it though? Any more pictures on the cards? ;)

Just technique, make sure you have your foot firmly on the platform and push on it as if you are mount a step with a weight on you. Your arms are only to steady the bike.

How are you finding it?

My dads thinking of changing his GSA for the RS.

Had an r1100rs years back. Loved it, but then they stopped making em!

It's the best. Ran a GS for many years. An R1100S long ago. An R75/5 even longer ago, plus a few others. The RS12 does all I need to do. 10,000 miles in and still enjoying it. Been round Scotland's best roads. Been on track. And Germany twice. Enjoyed flat out on autobahn and countless country roads. It's a keeper.

Mega!

How did you find the comfort compared to the GS?

He does do 1000 mile days on occasion and sometimes more. Sort of finds that the GSA doesnt move though unless its a big trip. Just because its so big n bulky. Not a sunday blast kinda bike.

As a Grumpy Old Man I think 1,000 miles a day is kinda silly. No way could I entertain it.

But Sunday blasting no problem, though I do prefer quiet week days when all the weekend idiots stay off the roads.

I won't put my helmet on for less than 60 miles :-)

1,000 miles in a day is Iron Butt territory!

I didnt mention it.. but hes also a grumpy old man :D.

Hes always done it tbh. He doesnt go for short rides.. only goes if hes got somewhere serious to get to. Loves it.

Sunday blasts are fun. Perks up the day somewhat eh :D.

The standard seat on the GSA wasnt up to it.. but the Sargeant one is brill he reckons. Says he gets off as fresh as he got on. No mither.

I agree though. Its practice i think. The 750mile days i did with him on the vfr were enough for me. Went beyond fun really. Numb arse n numb everythin else :D.

The longest leg I did back in September on the Dyna Street Bob Special was 430-miles (the leg included the shuttle back to the UK but not counting the 22-miles or so across the channel) and that was enough for me!

Being "old" I needed a comfort stop every 100-miles or so and took that opportunity to top the fuel tank up ;)

The Sprint is much more comfortable although my current trips for next year so far are St Tropez and Northern Germany and are both Harley related :notme:

Hi all,

Fellow biker and new member on here, i picked up my vRS yesterday but really i'm a biker at heart. I used to ride a BMW R1150 GSA SE which i had almost from new and put nearly 7-k miles on her. I also had a HD Street Bob with 14"apes, V&H leaf blowers etc, etc but chopped them both in last year for a new  RnineT and later in the year a new R1200 GSA...

A few pics for you..

Welcome!

Very nice indeed!

You'll fit in just fine.

LittleAde has a GS (hasn't got the GSA because the normal GS is too big for him really :D), Prykey has a HD and Gyp has an R1200R (i think thats what it is? Don't think its the RnineT anyway? Happy to be corrected!)

How are you finding the GSA? Do you get off on many big trips with it?

Edited by fabiamk2SE

That RnineT is lovely, probably one of my current favourites. Would like one but the price is still a bit on the salty side, even second hand.

That's a nice pair you have there, I like the RnineT, they are bringing out some great versions of it to.

I think that someone at BMW must be on the wacky baccy as they have moved from the staid to the brilliant on their new range of bikes!

Hi there,

Love the GSA and couldn't see myself without one, huge improvement over the 1150 in every respect. I try and do one big (ish) trip every year if i can. Back in 2014 4 of us rode to North Africa (Well, Morocco but North Africa sounds better and is technically true :D ). Last year the wife and i took the 1150 down to Lake Como for a few weeks break which was brilliant and this year in Sep we took the new GSA cross Europe to Slovakia taking in France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and Belgium.. Had a blast but we put too much pressure on ourselves. We were only away for 12 days and 5 of those we spent with family in Slovakia. Covered a total of 3k miles in 7 days riding which was too much really...
