Wingmirrors and Reversing Switches...

Featured Replies

Parked my car on the street outside my house and some ***** has absolutely annihilated my drivers' side wingmirror. Glass is totally smashed up and the casing of the top half of the plastic has been badly damaged as well.

Where should I be looking for a new one? Ebay, breaking? Is it a simple switch?

Also, I need to get a new reversing switch in because my rev lights aren't working. Do I have to get one specific to my model or is it one switch for all MK1 Fabias? Is it a simple install? Someone mentioned soldering in one thread I looked at.

Cheers

Ahhh okay, no worries, cheers anyway

I Have soldered the wiring to the reversing switch. It was on a 1.2 petrol Fabia thou, so cant advise you where it would be on yours. I found it had a broken wire entering the switch itself. I managed to "tin" the strands of wire poking out of the switch, and trimmed and tinned the wire too. Before I soldered them together I threaded various sizes of heat-shrink onto the wire. Soldered it up then covered the wires and part of the switch with heat-shrink, which takes the strain off the wire and protects it all from water ingress. Got the heat-shrink from Halfords, but am sure most car centres stock some.

There are various different part numbers for the reversing switch, but most places can find the correct one for yours, if you give them the reg.

Cheers

Dave
