VRS Spare wheel

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have just ordered a new VRS hatch and was not sure about whether to order a spare wheel instead of the puncture kit.

I have a spare wheel and associated kit in my facelift VRS which I was thinking of transferring to the new car, as I bought the wheel after I bought the car.

Does anybody know if the Octy 2 kit will fit an Octy 3?

Does anybody have a picture of the wheel and kit in the boot of an Octy 3 VRS hatch?

Thanks for any info.

Cheers

Jeff

What size is the wheel in your current setup?  I'm sure you need at least a 17" wheel to fit over the front brakes.  So if it's a 16" spare you currently have, then no, it won't fit.  Hang on until someone confirms though.

A 17" wheel is definitely needed to clear the front brake calipers.

I personally would have the spare wheel, as I did because its much cheaper at the time of ordering.

The MkII spare is 16" so won't fit the front of an MkIII vRS.  Order the spare with you car.

Odering a spare wheel at point of purchase is a no brainer, even if you don't need it, you can still sell it and make a profit from the numbties that didn't order one for theirs when they brought.

Thanks to all for the answers.

I'll change the order to add the wheel.

Could you not use you mk2 spare on the rear, as the calipers are smaller and then if the puncture is on the front, swap the full size wheel onto the front? Bit of faffing around I know.

The spare is only £50 though, is it not?  I'd pay just so I didn't have to do any of that faffing.

Think it went up to £55 although not entirely sure either way, its still a no brainer.

There a hundred pound now. The y won't sell you one if you have specced the 19's even though the 18 space saver is a closer size to the 19 than the 18

£100 is far cheaper than the £260ish IIRC from spares and for those whom ordered the 19's even more oppotunity to turn a penny.

only from the stupid.  tyre leader have several designs of 8x18 alloy rims in an offset that will fit, at 5 bolt 112 pcd for under £70 for a single rim.

Plus the tool kit which is another £40
