Does any one "wind you up" for modding your skoda?

Featured Replies

I have a colleague, who used to be a good friend til he got filled in for going to far with a wind up on me once.

Nowadays he seems to think it is fun to take the P**s because i am modding my car?

Does anyone else have this sort of thing happen to them?

all the time... but of course i can do it with the money i saved by getting a skoda... which = me having an even better car

I can take it off most people but this kid makes me wnat to wipe the floor with him

If it isn't my car it is something else. Apparently i am sad because i have SKY+ too.

if the truth is known its probs jelousy, thats what i find.

you mean "but at the end of the day, Phil, Its just a skoda" - that is a regular one from a colleague who drives a Toyota Avensis

Oh i love that.... "blah blah blah" To which i ask "so whats wrong with it" and they reply "Its a skoda" they can't actully think of an actual fault... leaves me  at them!

Sounds very childish to me, tell him to grow up!

i wind bengie up about his skoda in general loads, yes it's childish but that doesn't stop it being fun and at the end of the day it's still a poxy skoda

I have never had that happen to me, actually only the complete opposite...coz back then, nobody really knew what Skoda was, saw it was a good looker here & still is :)

I just offer them a ride out in it, that normally gives them an idea of what a Skoda can do.

Got a guy at work who has a base model Golf 1.6 who was preaching to me about VW being the superior manufacturer. No problem, I got a top of the range Skoda for less than his Golf would have cost him.

you fabia isn't top of the range :)

Someone asked me the other day... "what's the point of putting those BBS alloys on your car, it's still only a skoda? "

My answer? Well, now it's a diesel octavia, that doesn't look like a taxi!

That flummoxed him... he had no answer to that ;)

Yeah I get it a lot from people at work, and they drive crappy new clios, g-reg Granadas and the worst has to be a mk3 diesel golf with 3 spokes! :finger:

But at the end of the day, it's because of their stupidity that I drive a car that has tonnes of equipment and technology for half the price of an equivalent vag car!

you fabia isn't top of the range :)

Tis for me :finger: :P

:P :D

was a joke mate :)

i get questioned on modding my car but because its a skoda just because the bloke doesn't get modifying cars :)

Driving through a village this morning, group of lads waiting for something (a good kicking methinks :D) Heard a shout of, "It's still a Skoda!"

Actually made me smile that the car got a reaction at all. :)

I think it's childish and driven by jealousy in most cases, The Octavia (or Furby) is generally superior to the cars that the mickey takers drive anyway.

I got this classic from someone the other week as it goes:

"Oi mate, do you get vandals in your area? cos some $hit has stuck skoda badges on your car, ha ha ha". I thanked him for the witty comment he made.

Does anyone else have this sort of thing happen to them?

No. :( Do Jabbasport do a VERY large sticker I could put next to the 1.4 16V badge?

Don't have any mods yet - have never done any in the past - but if Mr Jabba can do a mod to my 12v to make it a little quicker I would be interested,

That being said the more I think about it the more I want to swap both cars for a furbie VRS next year - and have it chipped. (And to think I was hanging on for a Yeti)

Back on the subject of having the :cussing: taken out of you for driving a Skoda is nothing new. Indeed one of my colleagues refused to drive it, until I handed over the keys. Now he's thinking of buying one.

 You don't drive a Superb. More Fabia visions of grandeur

I think you are right about a lot of it being jealousy.

The thing is some of the comments i get are from people who actually claim to know about cars, now that is what i find annoying.

One of the perptrators now drives a focus st170 but he used to drive a bmw so maybe thats where he gets it from?

I don't see why i should put up with any stick for whatever car i drive, it is my choice and other people should not say anything if they can't say something constructive.

Perhaps once i get my remap done the flash git in his st will see more of the back of the my octy, then it will be different lol

you moan about people slagging off skoda's but how many people on here slag offothers for driving other makes such as BMW for example

Yes that sort of thing does go on, but it seems to me that people give more stick to skoda drivers than any other make of car. I just find peoples ignorance stunning at times.

[sarcasm mode on] At least with BMWs it is justified ;) [sarcasm mode off]

I don't mind the odd laugh, i expected it to be fair when i bought the car, but then when you mod it it seems to get worse. Some people do nothing but waste their time and money drinking and going to the same old pubs/nightclubs week in and week out. Some people buy expensive hi fi's or such like.

Whatever your interests are why do other people feel the need to put them down?

Each to their own i say.
