Does any one "wind you up" for modding your skoda?

Featured Replies

I've found recently it's the other way round now. I've just started a new job and during the usual getting to know you chit chat cars usually get a mention. When I said I owned a Skoda you'd have been surprised at the amount of positive reactions. All were aware of the vRS in particular and even one of the young lads was hankering after one in a few years instead of the usual chavvy stuff.....

I also find it's the other way around. Nothing but praise and compliments. Even off the schoolkids who get chips at dinnertime.

I was at Angelsey today, where quite a few Briskodians said they were going to be  , and nothing but admiration from drivers os far more expensive cars. (Might have been cos I was passing them all :D )

I would rather everyone hated Skoda and did'nt have one. I dont want a car thats common as muck.

Exactly. People love scoobies but how many of those do you see ?!!?

but people would argue that those cars are therefore "better" because so many people buy them?

Not my own view

The fact that our choice of brand gets any reaction at all is cool!

How many hundreds of other makes and models will fail to raise even an eyebrow with the majority of people?

If anyone oversteps the line a good solid kick in the testicles should do the trick!

No point in worrying what people say or think about your car.You bought it for a good reason.

Best to have a smug smile to yourself when people take the mick.

Don't forget to give them the skoda car quiz "Can you name even two things wrong with a skoda? :) " (you have to say two because if you say one thing they always say "The badge"....hilarious...not :D

When I got the Fabia vRS one of my pupils refused to have further lessons in it as he would have the **** taken out of him by his "mates". Apart from being an irritiatingly spineless ****, this did demonstrate one thing. The effect of peer pressure. Everyone else who has driven it rates it to be far superior to the Fieasta. A couple have made enquiries about the more insurance friendly models. Like the salesman said, I wont sell you the car, just drive it and it will sell itself.

Now how many people buy a car, not on its merits, but on how they feel others will percieve them? if their insecurities are very deep rooted, they will feel the need to emphasize their conformity by slagging off non conformist choice. Next time someone gives you stick for skoda Ownership or modding, just give them the polite and condescending smirk that comes from knowing they are suffering from deep rooted insecurities and proably have a microdick.

had all the greif when i got mine... but as none of them could drive/had a car funny they all wanted lifts..... told them where to go as it was a skoda they cuddnt go in it. They soon shut up... now 2 hav skodas!

maybe its owners of non-sports models who get more stick for modding? I`ve never had any real stick for upgrading my fabia, only for the amount of speed cameras that have my photo on file! It seems a given these days that you buy the sports model and then make it into the car you wanted but couldn`t afford. Most of the modded cars on this forum seem to be vRS models with a few exceptions. Maybe a poll is useful here? I don`t look down on someone who has a good car but wants to make it better (unless its a citreon :D ).

Well the vRS cant have them as they dont fit!! Or at least not without the aid of a stanley knife!

Alot of people dont like flaps... but looking at car from behind i like them.. makes it look wider... oh and as i dont like spray i feel at least the person behind me doesnt suffer... as much... after their choice of car :D

I get grief all the time at work, people saying the word 'Superb!' at any chance, quite funny some times. However did get some grief off a group of ***** the other day saying my car was ugly and a cr@ppy skoda. I just laughed, but deep down wanted to batter the lot of them! If you let it bother you it will, if you dont, then sod em!

HERE, HERE!! :D:thumbup:

have never had any negativity regards my motor. my uncle did say 'yeah its nice but it aint no BMW.' to which i replied 'thats one of the reasons i bought it!' but he drives a vectra so his opinion doesnt really count.

as it says on the bottom of my number plate "100% ego free"!

if the "non sports" models cost less in the first place then surely this is a perfectly acceptable route to take?

Well, over there it IS a common car...

But it ain't muck.

Sexy sounding girl with a foreign accent rang me last night.Wife said "It's some girl for you :grumpy: "

It was Skoda customer services asking if my new brochure had arrived and did I have any queries.

Made having a skoda worth any mick taking,Phwoooar :D

would you buy a 1.6 octavia and try to make it a vRS? I think not, unless you have lots of money to waste. But there`s nothing wrong with buying a model or 2 down from the sports version and modding it as long as the price of modding isn`t more than the difference in models. I think people buy the lower models cos they don`t want to mod or go faster but get bored like we all do with our cars and start thinking about wether to trade it in or mod it. As long as modding wins i`m happy! :D And as long as the results turn out like rob`s car its worth it. I hope i haven`t contradicted myself.

good call matey :thumbup::thumbup:

I agree that to most people it would seem a waste of time to mod something like a 1.6 Octy but i still say each to their own, whatever floats your boat etc. Some people really aren't bothered about extra performance and prefer the "all show and no go" approach.

I could have had vRS instead of my Elegance model but the interior is not for me unfortunatley (not very child friendly coloured carpets :) ) So when i got mine nearly a year ago i was thinking of modding very early on but have only just finally taken the plunge, with the help of you Martin

I am pretty sure that once my Remap is done my car will outperform a great many cars on the road, be better built than a great many cars on the road but still be comfotable and practical and including my remap i will have only spent about

all the time mate, i just casually point out that im not following suit and modding a common as muck corsa, nova, vectra or focus where just about every possible mod has been seen but dare to be different and mod a skoda that is quite few and far between
