DSG hiccup

Featured Replies

Hi.

My DSG had kinda of hiccup to day.

When taking off a standstill, I released the brake as usual. And nothing happened. The car just stood there. Pressing the accelerator only made revs go up. When the revs hit around 1700-1800 rpm the car jumed away. While driving nothing was out of the ordinary.

This happened after driving around 340k, so the car was nice and warm.

After arriving home, the car stood for about an hour. Then everything was fine when I tried it again.

Any ideas? The car is barely run in, with 1700km on the counter. Its a 1.8TSI 4x4.

Only problem I've had is if the gear lever isn't quite engaged in the right position - either knocked slightly by me resting hand or grabbing drink, or just not put in correctly in first place (button still slightly pressed in on knob) slight vibration slipped into gear, not really cars fault - would this be possible ?

Im quite sure that that is not what happened to me, I had been driving for over an hour when I first noticed it. It happened in the first intersection I came to when coming back to the city.

Hill hold sticking?

Did you have the ASR and Stop/Start off with your foot slightly on the throttle whilst also on the brake, as this is will engage LAUNCH CONTROL !

LOL no, wasnt launch controll :)

And it shouldnt be hill hold either, as it was on almost flat ground. The car actually rolled backwards a bit before starting to move forward.

It could possibly be the gearbox temperature was high (or another problem was making it think it was high).

I believe if the gearbox is overheating it doesn't "creep" forwards & will only engage the clutch when the accelerator pedal is pressed causing a bump forwards.

I would expect it to activate before 1700rpm in this condition though.

Possibly.

But it shouldnt have been very high though. Was only cruising in 90kmh with cruise control. And ambient temp was only 10 degrees.

Well, will have to wait and see if it happens again.

Thank God for warranty :)

I had something similar to this, at around the same mileage. Engaged D and it didn't start to roll forward as normal. Gave some revs and nothing, until suddenly it seemed to engage and pulled away as normal. I braked again to a standstill and then removed foot from the brake. Nothing, no starting to roll forward. Again it needed some revs to get moving. I keyed-off and on again, and the problem was gone. This makes me think it is software related. No problems since.

Thats Sounds exactly the same as what happened to me. Hope it goes away for good like yours did.

What drive mode were you in?

If in Eco, there is a software update to address issues with the box not selecting gears after it has coasted in Eco mode. I was under the impression it only applied to the TDi vRS though.

It happened in both ECO and normal. But it wasnt coasting that was problematic, it was taking off from stationary.

But it has not happened again, so it seems like it could something with the software.

My DSG doesn't have an ECO mode.
