What a hoot!

Collected my SE Greentech yesterday and said goodbye to my Golf. The eight mile trip home turned into fifty two somehow!  :D Reminds me of the old Mini handling wise. I've been driving diesels for years now so need to re educate myself... especially at the pumps.

One question.... Does it need to have a first service around 1000 miles or do I just carry on until it tells me it wants one? The dealer never mentioned it. I did opt for the three year £99 service.

Another thing I may have fluffed on too. When I placed my order on 1st May, the salesman told me I would have five days free insurance. Driving back home yesterday I realised there had been no further mention of this. Is this automatic or does it have to be requested? I amended my policy as soon as I got home just to be safe.

Anyway... I'm really impressed with the little Citigo, it is more fun than the Golf.

Does not need the service at 1000 miles. You will get a service reminder warning on the dash.

insurance has to be done over the phone at the dealer. Glad you got away without any issue

First service is at 1 year or 10,000m...whichever comes first (it was on my 2013 Citigo - unless they've changed it).

Shoddy from the garage! You're lucky you got away about the insurance, the dealer should have explained about phoning to organise, that's poor from them. Could have ended up with a nasty Police/DVLA situation if you were caught uninsured because of the garage's lack of communication! Definitely did the sensible thing though with amending your policy! Sorry you missed out on the 5 days free, though!

The car's a great wee car. Handling is fun, and they're so economical! Mine had its first service at 10,000 miles. It showed an "INSP" icon on the dash, where mileage is displayed. It also made a tone!

Hope you enjoy the car. Safe and happy motoring! :)

Cheers for the replies, I'm a bit red faced now about the insurance. Lucky I wasn't ANPR'd on the way home, that could have been tricky.

I used to work at Rover and they would put in some red oil that was like cutting fluid for the first 1000 miles of bedding in. I guess tolerances have moved on a step or two since those days.

Interesting my neighbour has a Mii and i'm sure they said they had a 1k service, I checked with my dealer and definitely 10k/1 year, he was also saying some of the Skoda range are 2 years/20k now.

As has been said shoddy ref the dealer and insurance, which dealer is this?, I had to call up, although I was given the details so I could do this at home a few days beforehand, they also give you a quote £350 for the year ( I pay £150 fully comp prot etc).  Although I never received anything emailed or posted to say I was insured which I was surprised at, did anybody else get anything?, if so was I insured!!!

To be fair, the original salesman was on holiday and passed me over to another one while I was on holiday so I guess it got lost somewhere in the communication. The dealer was  Johnstons, a multi franchise who I found pretty good in all other respects. The cheapest quote I had was £180 f/c so I stuck with LV for the remainder of the term and they quoted me £190 for the coming year. Not too shabby.

800 miles on, second tank of fuel. Starting to stretch its legs a bit. Feeling smoother as it beds in. PID is showing an average of 61mpg which is surprising as it easily scoots up to 80 on the M40 without me realising. (No cruise control). Also, all the stuff I read about struggling uphills seems to be unfounded so far unless I am especially light. Loving it so far.....

Hills if you plan them it's not a problem, only steep do you need to drop down a cog.

You will notice once you run it for a while the difference a full tank makes to neat empty, add a passenger and luggage to the full tank and it does require work to keep pace.

Other than that I find it hard to fault it. Only reason I'm changing mine is need for more space.

If you get a long to castle combe in September you'll see one at action ;)

I must be just the opposite. I spend 99% of my driving alone and with a bag of cycling stuff only. I wanted a Superb this time round but for the first time in my life I became practical and used up my last brain cell. I will look up Castle Combe and hopefully make the trip. Cheers!

no need to worry at the pump, the diesel nozzle physically don't fit into the filler of the citigo

you will also find the PID MPG is about 8-10% optimistic (so if you are see 60+ subtract 5-6mph to see your real mpg)

My PID stated 55mpg, my calculated MPG was 53 pretty close really

2000 miles in and I met my first proper hill today coming out of Port Mulgrave on the North east coast. Three people in the car and I had to stay in first as second couldn't handle the incline. That made me smile as I have not been able to find fault with the little wretch so far. I'm liking the utilitarian motoring but I have to say there is nothing on this car that is not needed. Function over form has won me over when you compare it with the over styled offerings from the likes of Ford and Hyundai that date so quickly. Another plus point is quietness on the motorway at silly speeds. The little rev counter is shouting over 4k but the car is still pretty quiet. Before I ordered this I had a drive in a Fiat 500. I liked the style but not the driving experience. The Skoda, short wheelbase aside, feels not much different from my old Golf.

Have to agree, had the car over a month now and done nearly 750 miles and I am loving it. It is so comfortable seating wise and driving experience including motorways. Yes it does take a while to get up to speed on the motorway but once up to speed it is great.

I really do need to try a Citigo... we are perhaps in the market for a small city car for local runs etc and the Citigo might just fit the bill.

Not sure how I'd get on with the little engine and manual gearbox though. Might feel a bit lacking and hard work to get going compared to the Octavia.

Phil, I have just come from the 105bhp 1.9TDI albeit a manual. Once you get used to seeing over 3000 revs again it becomes just as good. I sat at 4000rpm for about three hours yesterday and all I could hear was the changing road surface.

It has (supposedly) 8bhp less than my Transporter and that trogs along with three times the weight at 75 - 80mph. Not had the Citigo at max yet but it seems to do everything the Golf did, just using revs instead of torque.  :)

I came from a 190bhp A4 auto and apart from very few occasions where I wish I could hammer it I'm more than happy. I'm averaging around 60mpg and only filling it up once every 5-6 weeks.

And so were we a couple of months ago when we bought the Citigo. Now the Yeti slumbers quietly in the garage most of the time but a couple of times a week it comes out and it's like having a new car again. Not only is the Citigo a really good day to day workhorse but it maintains my delight in the Yeti - a real win win

Phil, I normally drive a 140 bhp DSG Yeti but when I drive my wife's Mii I have a smile on my face. :sun:

Try it I think you'll love it.

it's a good day. In April I was able to keep pace with a Fabia mk1 vRS (Standard), only left me on the straights........no bad for 60bhp!!! :)

Most of the time I'm alone but aging family members need mobility now so helping do my part!

Would have gone for a Superb but that's silly big!!

Phil, I had a Octavia vRS DSG. Only thing I miss in everyday driving is the size. The citigo is more than enough for 80% of my driving requirements.

But as above, family related I need a bigger car.
