How to make a citigo louder

Featured Replies

Hi,

This is the first thread I've made so I'm quite new to this, I've got a citigo black edition and it sounds loverly but I was wondering what if anyone's done anything to make the engine or exhaust sound a bit louder?

Take the intake off that fits to the airfilter. It is quite loud when you do this.

Beware though the looks you will get when it sounds like your going for it and you barely breaking the speed limit hahaha

The sticky outy pipe you see next to the dip stick is what needs taking off, be careful not to snap the connection when you do, just wiggle and pull, I would also check with your insurance, if you really did want to do a good job I would take of the old intake pipe (with resonance chamber which is where the car silence's the engine roar) and replace it with a intake tube or something like that, that way you're not sucking in hot air and you can in effect recreate the stock intake pipe without that resonance chamber, if you do this you will need to phone your insurance to check that swapping the intake pipe is okay, it could void your insurance in a crash

Have you or do you know anyone else who has done this, I know some people have put a cone filter on, would that have the same effect? Cheers

I did it for 5 minutes. If all you want is sound put a come filter on. There won't be any performed gains though dude.

That's great thanks, this is my first car so I only really want to do something than can be put back on. plus if i was to do anything performance wise my insurance will probably go up again hahaa

I did it, but really just because I like that roar sound, changed it back after a couple of days because I knew it wasn't doing anything

If you put a cone filter on (specifically this one designed for the car http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Induction-Kit-For-VW-UP-Seat-Mii-Skoda-Citigo-RAMAIR-Foam-Air-Filter-Intake-/351190433930?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51c494c08a) I would at least make a intake pipe to go to the filter, the cone filter in the link sticks right in front of the engine.. good for sucking in hot air

Thanks for the advice  :D

Thanks for the advice  :D

If you go for a cone filter you will need to notify insurance is it's an intake upgrade effectively

Yeah, I'll need to check with the car garage as my cars on a pcn and I'm not sure what mods are aloud, but presumably as long as it can be revered it should be fine, and then I'll have to check what my insurance say or how much extra as it might not be worth doing.

I reckon you have that saved in a sticky note on your desktop so you can just copy and paste :D

presumably some sort of non CAT straight exhaust would add power and noise?

An over-noisy little car just sounds silly, especially pootling about town at legal speeds.

IMHO.

Personally, I wouldnt do it.

Its the modern version of the "Exhaust finisher from halfords on a Corsa 1.0L" - By all means lower her a little, throw on some alloys and maybe upgrade the speakers..... But if she already isnt the 75bhp version you have nothing else to go that will make any difference. Just drive and enjoy ;)

Any modifications would invalidate your warranty so if I was you I wouldn't bother asking/telling them. Just inform your insurance company.

Bloody Tapatalk hasn't been working all day POS :wall:

You have basically described my car :D

It actually not bad, having removed the intake pipe before to see what its like I can say that you only here the rumble of the engine past 2000k revs, before that it's like normal and at motorway speeds the noise is tolerable

How do you remove this? I've tried a few times and don't want to force it off in case the clips break, any advise would be great thanks.

Sorry no video, I forgot mines been off so many times it rattles so I zip tied it on, some pictures instead to help

First pull it out here, you'll need to wiggle it free then pull it up, don't worry about removing it completely, just enough to yank it up

Then just twist it off from here

Is there two bits, on the top and on the bottom which you need to squeeze to get it out? or does it just wiggle out?

cheers

Nope, that's literally it in the pictures, don't need to squeeze anything as far as I know, just pull
