When did skoda stop making the mk1 octavia

Featured Replies

According to wiki its 04 then the mk2 came out but why do I see plenty of mk1's with as late as 07/8 plates, my last mk2 was an 05 which was obviously the first of them....just curious as there's plenty of mk1's for sale but not many mk2's....well not here (central Scotland) there's not

The Original Octavia was produced in the CZ till 2010 was it not.  (only called a mk1 once there was a mk2)

So is that why you see First Registered in the UK 2007/8 cars, a cross over of production of models between 2004 & 2009.

The Second Generation was 2004 (2005 Model) until 2013 ie Mk2's

I thought they still produced them for cabbies?

So wiki's talking crap then

You are maybe reading Wiki different from me, because what the page shows looks accurate enough.

read 'Overview'

in the box at the right hand side of the page.

I think the issue is that the header is misleading? It quotes end of production as being when the Czeck line was closed down, where the overview acknowledges that production was transferred rather than ended in that year.

The op's Title (Header) is.  'When did skoda stop making the mk1 octavia'

So when did the MK1 stop being sold new in the UK?

2010 or 2011, presuming there weren't significant unregistered stocks when the last line closed.

The newest taxi spec (you had to be a cabbie to buy the tour) ive seen is 2010. They got a 100bhp 1.9tdi block and the same spec as an ambiente. Plus decent alloys. Starting to see a few for sale now over here, been tempted a couple of times..

It's a diesel est I'm after too

My last batch of mk1's where 09 plates ( taxis )

I've said it since they stopped producing the MK1 that they should have never stopped making them. They where a fantastic car for the taxi trade, what they should have done was remodel the Mk1, change the interior, add cup holders n cubby holes. They should have spoke to taxi drivers, the rapid/Toledo imo simply doesn't get close to how good the mk1 was for the job.

I've got a mk1, my work has mk2 pool cars. Other than rear legroom, I can't see anything the mk2 does better based on back to back comparisons on the same roads.

Down to cost cutting probably...same as everything else, thinner, plasticier ect = crap

I think Benfield in Harrogate sold one of the last, if not the last MKI Octavia Vrs in the Country. It was a late 07 plate, in silver. I know cos I nearly bought it

I take it Skoda own this  beautiful vRS,  unless anyone knows better.

I think the oldest UK modern Mk1 I've seen is an 09 plated one. As others have said, normal retail sales to the public crossed over to the Mk2 in 2004, but there were still a few cars kicking round in the system for a while, and taxi spec cars went on for a good while longer.

Re Cambelts - My Ambient has a ALH engine and was 1st registered 06/02 ,  in the service log book it says that cars after 05/02 only need their cambelts changing every 100k miles .

It has however had one changed in 07 at 59 k , now it is on 116k so the cambelt is 10 years old it would appear .

Any advice would be good thanks . I have emailed the garage to see if they have a record . I am thinking it should be fine to go on another 40 k miles before a change , then do the water pump as well.

Mine is also an alh and i was told 100k for first then every 60k after that, when i thought it was due at 150k and that was a main dealer quote inc water pump and they even double checked the system when i asked were they sure..

We have a 59 plate local round here, a Taxi.
