Well hang on a minute. I wasn't given a status code (which would have been clearer), she simply said port of exit release. I asked if that meant it was in the UK and she said yes, but wouldn't port of exit be Emden and UK be port of entry?

Maybe they are both in Emden after all and the dealer misadvised me?

Either they were correct and yours arrived the other day or if not hopefully ours are still travelling companions in which case its crossing the North Sea at the moment.

I received a call from my dealer this afternoon at about 5pm to say that it was on the Schelde Highway which left Emden at 1:25pm and is due into Grimsby at about 9:30am (about 140 nautical miles to go).  The lady at the dealer reading directly from the system and also asked the dealer manager to get the ship name for me.

That's great news for you mate, and hopefully for me too. If what SUK told you previously was true, about them being strictly kept in batches, they should still be together (I hope!). I still haven't heard back from my dealer, so he's either still off work, or he didn't get the message. I'll call tomorrow afternoon if he still hasn't called. He's usually excellent so fingers crossed. At least you know yours is on the final leg now. :)

Yes, been given a pick up date of Easter Weekend which falls nicely.

Hopefully you will get confirmation tomorrow that it is in the UK, thankfully my dealer is Lincoln so not far to travel once its at Grimsby and she was expecting a dozen cars over so a busy time for them but also hopefully a simple pick up and delivery with a transporter full.

Worst case if mine was the last on that ship and yours is on the next is still Grimsby tomorrow as the Weser Highway sailed at 21:57 and is due in 17:00 tomorrow.

It's looking good, at last. :) My dealer is in Warrington, so only an extra hour away. I opted out of pre-delivery preparation and valeting (I've got a detailer booked) so hopefully that will help hurry things along a bit, even just a day. Not long to go now.

150 TDI DSG L&K Hatch ordered 31/09, still waiting and latest useful info was "should be in stock mid March".

Finally confirmed delivery to me will be next week :) so will have been exactly 25 weeks from order.

Well I am picking mine up today in 3 hours can't wait just got to empty current car now.

I just got off the phone to my dealer, and he said our car is still showing as being in Emden. That's 14 days today. Pentaxian, it looks like you got ahead of us despite what Škoda told you. The SUK rep is in the dealership atm as it happens, so my dealer is going to ask him to escalate it and find out what's happening. Hopefully they'll ring back with a decent update. Disappointing.

Seriously seriously disappointed for you, sat here shaking my head in disbelief.

What excuse can they even come up with now for why it has not shipped.  A ship carrying 750 cars sailed after the one that mine was on and is due in Grimsby at 5pm, another one carrying 850 cars is about 30 minutes out of Emden heading for Grimsby.  Have now had it confirmed by SUK that it is in Grimsby and awaiting onward transport to the dealer.

I hope you get an update and get told it is in fact sailing over at the moment.  I guess that does demonstrate that there is no logic to the shipping of vehicles, unless and I so hope I am wrong there is something wrong with the car.

Hi,

off topic but -- went into our local ( refurbished ) Shell garage . Behind the entrance door --- a number of 10Ltr cans of addblue ( withe pourer ) £13.43 as i remember.

Mine was -

From and including: Wednesday, 11 November 2015

To, but not including Wednesday, 9 March 2016

Result: 119 days

It is 119 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date

Or 3 months, 27 days excluding the end date

119 days can be converted to one of these units:

  • 10,281,600 seconds
  • 171,360 minutes
  • 2856 hours
  • 119 days
  • 17 weeks

Put like that it doesn't sound too bad! Mine was ordered about the same time and arrived at the dealer around mid Feb. The big problem here is dealers providing inaccurate delivery dates. My dealer originally said could be April/May then revised to March so I was more than happy when they said late Feb, at which point I said hold it back a week for March and a new plate. At the end of the day mine was early. A friend just ordered a BMW first week in Jan and he is expecting it mid April.

I've just picked up a voicemail confirming it's still in Emden but 'hopefully' it will go on one of tomorrow's ships else one at the weekend. I can only wait for him to ring me back when it's moved now, which is frustrating as I was told it was in the UK on Monday! Bugger. :(

Status 10 - Your car has a rough build week number

Status 20 - Your build week has been confirmed

Status 30 - Parts gathering

Status 38 - Your car has been built

Status 39 - Your car is on a train to the Port of Emden in Germany

Status 40 - Your car is at the UK Port (Sheerness, Grimsby ot Tyne)

Status 50 - Your car is being transported to the dealer

Status 70 - Your car is with the dealer

Hopefully a few more of you that have been given bad information will be told soon that your order is at Status 50 or 70, hang in there it is worth the wait.

By the way either your dealer or SUK should be able to advise the status of your order, well fingers crossed anyway, mine were very good throughout the complete experience :)

I think this is where the problem lies, some dealers are very, very good at keeping their customers updated and others would appear not to be; SUK should sharpen up its own act and also that of the dealers that are below par on keeping the customer informed after all if the dealer's get it right SUK will receive less calls asking "Where is my Superb"?!

You're right there. My dealer promised to keep me updated every two weeks on the status of my order and so far they have kept to their word. When I changed my order to black leather I called them to make sure the change had gone through and the guy I spoke to was able to directly look at the order to make sure it had.

So if I want an update outside the two-week schedule I'll call the dealer rather than SUK. I think Skoda should indeed come down quite heavily on those dealers that don't communicate with their customers, as it does take up their CS reps' time answering questions that the dealers should be able to handle.

What I don't get is when I phone Vindis fleet a really helpful operator asks my surname, finds the order....this usually takes 10 seconds, they then say hold on 2 secs I'm just logging into the Skoda system, I here them tapping away on their keyboard, they then tell me my car's status. The whole call probably takes around 45 seconds.

Why do so many dealers struggle with this?

Absolutely

Hi, first post here as I didn't want to think too much about how long I was having to wait for the car.

Ordered 1st November through a lease company (ALD) and I have had zero feedback regarding build dates, shipping dates etc. other than the initial date I was given of March 1st. Just had notification that the car will be delivered to me on Wednesday so the wait is nearly over. It is actually a slight improvement over my last car which was an Octavia Greenline and took a full 6 months to be delivered.

Ordered a 2.0L 150hp diesel Business edition estate in quartz grey with some extras:

  • Heated front sceen
  • Heated seats
  • Columbus sat nav
  • Rear camera
  • Space saver wheel

Was so close to ordering a Citroen Grand Picasso in top spec which I know is quite a different car but is really comfortable to drive with such good visibility. That would have been ready around Christmas time.

Skoda business leasing did lend me a black L&K estate for a week in November though so I know it will be worth the wait.

Car got delivered to me at midday today. Hooray!

Then found out the fleet dealer in Tamworth who had supplied the car had not PDI'd it properly and had left the car set in "Transport mode" so many of the features weren't working and every time you turned the ignition off it reset itself back to factory settings.

Had to spend 2 hours at the very helpful Sandicliffe Skoda in Leicester while they sorted out the other dealers mistakes.

Not a great start but from the limited driving today the car seems great.

Helpful, Sandicliffe? Really. Does surprise me.

Where in NW Leicester are you?

This information is there. SkodaUK could publish it as a very easy customer service benefit. Once you have ordered they could give you a username/password to a 'new buyer' web portal which gives a more detailed status of your order. Doesn't need to use terms like status 20, but friendly customer facing words with a bit more info for the average joe. They could also show you your car in a stripped down configurator view and access to relevant manuals and stuff (like the iPad app), but personalized. They can even try and upsell stuff, such as insurances, service packs and so on. It wouldn't take much effort, it would calm eager purchasers, reduce badgering of the garages and car sales staff , and send a serious you-are-important-to-us customer message.

To be fair to the garage they've been quite useful a few times now. They are better since they changed form Farmers to Sandicliffe.

I'm in Ibstock. You? I haven't seen any other S3's around here yet.

Up the road, coalville.

Our car arrived at the dealer on Saturday.  They got two deliveries over the weekend, the first one had the cars that had landed in the UK last.  The second load had cars that had been sitting in the UK waiting haulage.  Don't know if that helps those who think they're car was delayed in the UK, looks like its true.  My car hadn't reached Germany last Monday but was at the dealer 5 days later.

Anyway, went to have a look at it today, looks fab!  SE Business, Moon white, Scotland Pack (full heated seats, heated screen, heated washers!), boot release, spare wheel and door bin.  Booked in for it's Gtechniq treatment beginning of April so won't get used much before that's done.

edit: ordered 4pm 21/11/15 and requested for March delivery (i.e. no earlier than March).  Looks like we got our order point spot on.

So that would give Derv further ammunition to throw at Skoda UK as his was in Germany along with mine on the 3rd and still has not sailed to the UK and yet mine is in Grimsby awaiting transport to the dealer.  It will also be a point of feedback I will make as it demonstrates once again that SUK do not tell the truth because I must have been told several times "all cars are shipped in rotation, no cars bypass others".

So 4StringBass your car arrived in Germany a week after mine but it's been in the UK nearly a week already, and pentaxian your car was in Emden with mine on the 3rd, was delayed for some reason and finally got to the UK... but mine is still sat indeterminably in Emden? Something fishy going on there, I'm going to make some more calls...

Well I'm fresh off the phone from SUK. I gave them absolute murder over the fact my car was delayed two weeks when others seemingly just slip straight onto a boat. I asked if it had suffered some kind of accident damage or was delayed for other reasons, and the lady said she'd ring through and check. She came back and said the car was fine and had not suffered any damage or undergone repairs. It left Emden yesterday on the Ems Highway, and she said that was due into the UK tomorrow. I've checked vessel finder and Ems Highway did leave Emden yesterday and arrived at Grimsby this morning. So it seems my car is finally docked in the UK, albeit not yet unloaded and checked into the compound.

I wonder why she said it was only due to arrive tomorrow after shipping yesterday? Maybe that's how long they take to unload and log into the compound's system? Either way they have guaranteed it was on that boat. :) One interesting note compared to what everyone else (pentaxian etc) was told:

SUK said the boat loading was entirely random, and while they apologise that this meant my car slipped down the queue, it does explain why 4StringBass' car arrived a week after ours and shipped directly whereas pentaxian's waited an extra week at Emden with my car but then shipped a day earlier. Annoying though! Fingers crossed it'll be with the dealership soon. My dealer said he'd tag it as urgent once it was in the UK (he has no influence before then) so we can hopefully get it sooner.

Let's hope the shipping company they use don't run passenger ferries or you'll never know when you'll get to and from your holiday!  When ours landed in the UK it was straight on a transporter and up the road.  I was truly surprised to see it sitting at the dealership, I'd only popped in to see if it had even made it to the UK.
